I am rating everything as poor for this supermarket, where they fired my husband for missing a shift due to a FAMILY EMERGENCY. I was in a car accident, and he was terminated for being a no-call, no-show on a day that he had been VERBALLY scheduled for (was generously covering for his manager that day)... way to go, New Leaf. A bunch of Hippy Hypocrits (I think I coined a new term for them: Hippyocrits) who think that they are somehow good people just because they are free spirits who supply local. They claim this high moral and ethical standard, and well, as you can see from above, they don't give a damn about their employees' family's well-being. It's a good thing that I didn't wind up in the hospital (for me, obviously, but also for New Leaf) or else this could very well be a Family Medical Leave Act lawsuit shoved up their you-know-what. Come on Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Earth Fare. Good to know that your monopoly on this town won't last long.

You never know what you have until it's gone.... I lived in Tallahassee throughout college and started going to New Leaf my sophomore year. The customer service is amazing, they are "local" and offer products from many local vendors! I moved after graduation and my local health food store cannot even compare! I went to buy tea... I can't even find Chai tea!! :( New Leaf offered SO MUCH TEA, local eggs, local meats and veggies!! All of these items are marked clearly. My new store is so tiny, does not offer the selection that New Leaf had, and is not as locally focused. I miss you, New Leaf.

I have been member of NLM since 1998. The coop has come long way. It used to be half the size it is now. The hot bar was in the back of the store, the food was excellent. The customer service is always great. Some of the items are expensive, and some very reasonable, but you pay for quality.

Don't care for the deli/hot food bar anymore. The food was better five years ago. I believe it is due to a new cook. They used to have more variety of items - not just a choice of food with "soy" or cooked baked chicken. Its the same types of food that are there every time I try to eat at New Leaf (All southern or New Orleans style). They should try cooking more different varities of ethnic food (spices, and not just pepper)- Thai, Vietnamese, Egyptian, Greek, Russian, Italian, etc. On the good side, the bulk good items are amazing! Often produce is on sale. Good choice of local food produce/dairy.

I first went to NLM close to 15 years ago. Over the years, the store has improved greatly. I know many of the workers personally and know things from the inside somewhat, I can say honestly that many of the workers have super pride in their store and love working there. I prefer dealing with the professionalism and attitude of the NL employees than at many other grocery stores. The store becomes more appealing for people who may have not liked a laid back 70s image of co-ops, opening up the benefits of shopping at a natural foods store. For being fairly small, they have a great variety of products, and are well-organized. My favorite sections are beer, cheese, frozen. I often recommend their meat section to meat eaters who care about quality. I've have mixed feelings about deli selections I've tried, but some things I've had have been excellent. I don't like morning food and I was impressed with theirs! Their pricing is right for the area. Sure, it isn't the cheapest grocery in town-it isn't Walmart! I shop around for different needs, buy from NL around once a week. Some people faithfully shop every day, lunch there. You CAN save money there depending on how you shop. If you want more laid-back alternative--go to Bread and Roses! If you want a similar store with more items, Earth Fare. In this category of store, I prefer NLM over all of them, feel most comfortable there.
