True

Love is the only force that can turn an enemy into a friend - Martin Luther King.  This idea could bring World Peace if practiced far more next 100 years. :)

One time Benjamin Franklin had a hater and he wanted to make him his fan. :)  So Benjamin asked if he could actually borrow a book from his hater, since that book was supposedly very rare.  The guy was flattered and sent him the book and Benjamin returned it a week later with a thank you note.  Then, at the next legislature meeting, the hater approached Benjamin and the two talked and became friends afterwards, with the hater showing a willingness to help Benjamin until he died.

If we appeal to the good side of a person, their ability to help us, not to hurt us, it is very likely that they will help us and begin to develop a little trust in us, just because we trusted them.  Newton's third law of classical mechanics, action force = reaction force applies:  trust leads to trust. Perhaps the moment we let the violent side take over us and we issue threats, we play the game of death.  The moment we seek to build a bridge we play the game of life.  So, each choice leads to an appropriate path.

This small Benjamin event does show that instead of warring an enemy and spending 1 trillion on that, it's worth considering the other method:  war prevention via turning enemies/haters into friends/allies - at the cost of only 1 billion or 10 billion.

One of America's founders, Dr. Benjamin Rush, who signed the Declaration of Independence, wanted to create a Department of Peace, on equal footing with the Department of War, which would work for Peace.  Anyway, today, it would be the equivalent of a lot of "defense ministry" resources globally being dedicated to preventing war. :)

World Peace, or at least making progress towards World Peace this century, is doable. :)  A simple willingness to admit everyone is a child of the Universe (or God) or a member of the extended human family makes us more willing to work to prevent wars and build peace. :) Would you kill your best friends or family?  No.  Same way, when people develop a universal awareness that all are children of "All that Is" and we are all one human family, they are less willing to apply violence against others or at least more willing to reduce civilian casualties and prevent wars as much as possible.  Wars destroy the environment and kill lots of innocent civilians.

When we kill or are willing to kill or support wars in which people are killed, we automatically declare that we are a little bit like God who decides who is to die and who is to stay alive. :)  So, it is not very humble.  Violence breeds violence. :)  Peace doesn't come just by making war.  Anyway, it's very complex and hard and it's going to take centuries most likely without vast changes, but at least, we can try our best to bring world peace.

"Heaven arms with compassion those it would not see destroyed"  Tao Te Ching.  The reason empires fall MIGHT be that the empires lose touch with compassion for members of the human family.  :)  Lao Tze arguably gives a good example of how to lead the world by silent living example towards peace.  :)

Another reason to be friendly is this:  the people whom you might support a "war" against, may have among them your best friends of former lives.  :)  We apparently reincarnate in many countries, genders, conditions, planets, etc - apparently - so it makes sense to not wipe out people. :)  The study of spiritual phenomena reveals that those who harm other countries, towns, people will (or might depending on your interpretation of data) have to endure the karma of being born into the hellish physical universe areas or families they created (or those of similar quality) - if reincarnation is the way God gives a second chance (a billion trillion times) to the souls who made big mistakes and would need to evolve a little to inherit a really nice afterlife period or birth on a civilized planet (very different than Earth). For reincarnation cases, see over 400 of them at https://plus.google.com/+AlexP/posts/SknkumtQnef.  This is why it's good to work towards world peace, to help avoid turning more huge areas of Earth into the pure hell they are now.

"When I was hungry, you gave me food, when I was in a war zone you gave me peace"...  So, how can we make sure we minimize-eliminate war, since nobody likes living in a war zone? :)  We have the freedom to work for peace, since if things get out of control, the wars will spread. :)
