My father is restoring a Northrop P-61 Black Widow, a night interceptor used in World War II, with a team of people in Reading, PA.

Last week he needed a part and someone handed him this tin can.

Note the date. This part has been waiting to be used for over 70 years

If you find yourself with an Amazon Glacier vault you can't delete from the AWS console, download the backup app called Arq and use the Legacy Glacier Vaults option.

You will need to supply your AWS keys which if you don't have a record of, create a new set in the AWS console.

I lost access to these Glacier vaults when my Synology crashed and required re-configuration of various services. Unfortunately Amazon wants to charge you for tech support which you shouldn't need (IMO) to delete content from your account.

In memoriam for Steve Jobs as 2011 draws to a close, here's one more rare photo that illustrates his rebellious spirit. In December 1983, a few weeks before the Mac launch, we made a quick trip to New York City to meet with Newsweek, who was considering doing a cover story on the Mac. The photo was taken spontaneously as we walked around Manhattan by Jean Pigozzi, a wild French jet setter who was hanging out with us at the time. Somehow I ended up with a copy of it. My editor begged me to include it in my book, but I was too timid to ask for permission, especially since IBM was still making CPUs for Apple at the time.

Thank you Apple for not allowing me to create a bootable USB in Boot Camp because I have a SuperDrive in my older MacBook Pro.

Here is what you need to do to get it working.

Eric,
Quite amazing. Gotta do it Apple's way. I'm surprised there was a hack.

From rogerebert.com..3 out of 4 stars for Ouija.
It’s exactly what you think it is, and I had a good time watching it. Proves that a company will own up to a product hellbent on killing consumers, so long as they get paid first.

Variety's take on Ouija: Communicating with the dead remains an ill-advised hobby in Stiles White's routine but decently atmospheric horror-thriller.

+Gordon Burkell recently sent me photos of upgrades to his editing system. He wanted to keep it on the down-low but this is just too exciting not to share with everyone.

Gordon is proud to have a new Macintosh, bigger external storage, a subwoofer, and most of all...dual monitors!

This review is based on our recent buying experience of a Quest. In looking for a minivan we checked out Power Nissan and local Honda and Toyota dealers. The sales guys at Honda and Toyota were nice but the former were pushy and the latter were "take it or leave it" with the pricing. We worked with Steve Aldana at Power. From the onset he was friendly and extremely patient with us over the course of many visits and test drives. We drove around town, tried the car in our garage, loaded it with our stuff. Sat in a dozen Quests to find "the right one." Never once was there a complaint by Steve or his staff about the time we were taking. Never shuttled to a sale manager. Never pressured once to do anything but make sure we were comfortable with our shopping experience. We settled on a Quest (leaving behind the Odyssey and Sienna) and did some price shopping. I took those prices to Steve and he not only matched them, but beat them. Power Nissan worked hard for the sale and they got it. I'll go back to them and happily refer others.
