It's been a fantastic week at camp and there has been a lot going on here. In addition, we are currently on pace for the all-time best weather for a single camp session. Every day has been in the 80s and sunny, with a nice breeze and a cool night. You can't...

A Very Happy 4th of July!
Breakfast on the 4th of July is one of my favorite times during the summer. The enthusiasm is off the charts. Songs like Born in the USA, Party in the USA, Proud to be an American, and the Star Spangled Banner echoed loudly through the Lodge this morning. T...

A Normal Day in the Northwoods
I don't know if there is such a thing as a normal day at North Star, but I wanted to catch everyone up to speed on the program thus far. It has been very busy since the boys arrived on Sunday afternoon. We've done swim tests, physicals, village activities a...

The Week In Review
It has been a fun-filled week at camp and tonight we're going to catch you up on some of the most recent events: On Monday, we had our first full rainy day in three years. The rain might have kept us inside, but we didn't skip a beat. We had a rousing game ...

Go Outside and Play!
This Sunday night we did something different. I have been learning a great deal about the importance of free play in the development of children and the tremendous decline in opportunities for our boys to experience self-directed, free play (see here , here...

North Star Camp is a premier residential camp for boys in Hayward, Wisconsin.  Set on 120 acres, with 2.5 miles of beautiful Northwoods shoreline, North Star offers a rich variety of activities and experiences designed to stimulate the imagination and challenge the skills of boys ages 8 to 15. Structured but not regimented, the North Star program reflects North Star's philosophy of giving young people an opportunity to experience adventure in a friendly, welcoming pace away from the stress of everyday life. Our diverse program offers opportunities in athletics, water sports, creative arts, and adventure programming, and instills a sense of healthy competition through our Achievement Based Programming. Every camper also embarks on an age-appropriate wilderness trip with their cabin, which takes them canoeing or hiking through the scenic landscapes of the upper Midwest.

Your son will return from his first summer at North Star raving about his new friends and new adventures, and he will come home a more confident, responsible, and compassionate young man. You will undoubtedly see the growth and maturity he gained from his North Star experience.

We encourage you to visit our website at www.NorthStarCamp.com and give us a call, so that you can learn more about North Star and the people that make it such a special place.

Unlike many, I started as a counselor and was amazed at the comraderie, spirit, and focus on developing both campers and young adults. Yes, camp is fun! United Nation Days and Pow-Wow day are a blast (and the food is better too). Having spent 9 summers at camp, nothing else can give you the experience that life dishes out- both good (mostly), bad (sometimes), and unusual (like the time a fish, caught a fish, caught a fish- how does that happen?) And now we enjoy North Star as post campers, and Andy and Dan do a fantastic job. NorthStar is simply one of a kind and the people-of every age- make the difference!

Both of my sons have gone or are still going to North Star. My brother went to North Star, and my uncle went there as well. North Star is so incredibly well run, with more of an emphasis placed on sportsmanship, fun, and getting along then on winning. The boys get to do what they love! The food is great, my kids have raved about it! I love North Star, and imagine that my grandsons (when I have them!) will go to North Star.
