12.2 ounces, 418 yards, and 3 weeks of awesome yarn! I had a blast spinning along with Tour de Fleece this year!

My challenge for Tour de Fleece 2017 was getting over the mental hurdle of spinning 10 year old alpaca fiber. Spoiler: It was easier than I thought it’d be.

The #100DayProject ends July 12. I committed to 100 days of spinning yarn and learning more about spinning. Well, I definitely spun a lot of yarn, learned new techniques, and tackled 2 big lingering projects. And, most important of all, I learned that while my need to spin will ebb and flow, it's not going away. Spinner for life.

Tour de Fleece is spinning along! I'm absolutely thrilled with what I already have on the bobbins even though I did have to hand wind them because there was so much yardage. I'm not complaining at all.

You can spin yarn with a specific project in mind or you can spin yarn just because you like spinning yarn. I don't think either of those reasons to spin is better than then other. They're opposite ends of the spectrum that mesh with and inform the other. My spinning for the fun of it yarn gives me ideas and questions I want to answer with my more methodical, note-taking spinning.

I'm working small and fast to make samples so I can spin exactly the kind of yarn I want to spin.

I had a great time at the Estes Park Wool Market! It was my first visit to a fiber festival, and I'm looking forward to going again next year. Saw lots of cool animals, petted border collies, and came home with some beautiful yarn.
