Meh food and terrible service. The menu is pretty overpriced, and if you wait long enough you'll get to taste some mediocre food. Once you've eaten, if the servers can find the time they'll give you the bill. It's very telling that in the middle of a dinner service my five person party was more than half of the people there.

Awesome food. Good outdoor atmosphere. Just a little bit of a wait, but the freshness of the dishes is worth it. The Aguas Frescas were really good too.

Healdsburg is a lovely town with a lot of outstanding restaurants. I, however, don't think Mateo's is one of them. On my visit the tacones were under-seasoned and the taco was simply underwhelming. I do not mind paying a little more for good Mexican food, but this simply did not do it for me. I sadly don't understand the hype of this place.

Poor value. Our food was good and the service was very attentive. However, the portions are pretty small and the taste didn't wow us to justify the price.

We're local and the last time we were here was a weeknight, hoping that by staying away from busy tourist filled evenings, we'd get some attention and good food. We weren't disappointed. So tonight, another weeknight, we had a family night out, after a tremendously busy summer, in dire need of a day off and a nice evening, enjoying a rare night with our adult son as well. Where do I begin? It took us an hour to get our dinner, our waiter was also the bar tender, who was friendly but doing 3 jobs serving a big group in the back. The hamburger my son ordered was a big greasy blob with no flavor or seasoning, my pork dish with black beans was a blob of fat. I brought it to the waiter's attention and he says "that's the pork we use." I said "There is no pork in there. It's only fat." And I showed him. He took the plate back and brought a new one. My husband's Albacore were small pieces drenched in sauce - basically a little fish covered in a stew of sauce. We wanted some bread or chips and were told "we have tostadas" so fine, we order those, and are charged $2.00 for them. We were practically ignored except for the people who filled our water glass, had to signal for another beer and glass of wine, and the food = terrible. I don't know if they just had an off night, but we won't be back. Sorry, I usually don't post. If you'd offered us a free dessert, or glass of wine, I would have been okay. But full price, full bill, poor service, and food . . . not good. I hate giving review, and normally don't. I understand how tough it is to maintain standards, hate the Yelp stuff, etc.

It gets a 3 star mainly for atmosphere and the guac was good. Overall our party was very underwhelmed. I think its due in part that the farm to table food still tastes like the garden it came from. Our pan de cod was so fishy, its all we tasted. Nothing had good flavor, but portions are large. Service was slow but they said that's bc the food is cooked to order each time.

Decent food but inconsistent among my party. Some steak entrées were cooked fine and others overdone. Portions are small. Service was poor; staff was not rude but not inviting either. Decor gets a 1 due to the loud AC unit audible from the outdoor dining area. I won't be returning.
