No, we're not a solely pork restaurant!  It's all about fun combined with excellent food and small production WINE (get it?), spirits and beers at sWine.  If you like cool music, good food, special cocktails, craft beers and small production wines, then we're the place for you.  If you're uptight, don't bother.  If you have a sense of humor, want to play free pinball and have your palate treated like a prince(ss), then we'll get along EXCELLENTLY!  Oink!

Housemade charcuterie & other porky fare drive this playful, bi-level bar/eatery.- Google
"You can enjoy the bone marrow and brisket burger even with a gluten allergy!"
"If you're into charcuterie, this is definitely a spot to check out."

A great little bar to hang out. The food is amazing, and the bartenders were super nice. A bit packed, though!

A very average place. Firstly, the time we waited from when we ordered to the time we got our food was ridiculous, especially since it was not packed and it was on a Thursday night. We started with the mussels special and the pork belly for appetizers. The mussels were pretty good, pretty much on par with your standard mussel appetizer. It's a pretty big serving but i'm not sure if it's worth $20. The pork belly was literally microscopic and it was 90% fat. I have nothing against fat, especially on pork belly, but 90% on a piece that was already microscopic was just gross. And it was $14. -_- The bone marrow and brisket burger was the best part of the meal. Really juicy and flavorful burger. The bone marrow is subtle but gives it that little extra flavor, juiciness, and saltiness. I was put off by the bun when the dish came out cuz it looks like a mcdonalds fish filet bun. But it was actually pretty good haha though it was pricey at $18. Probably wouldn't return

Response from the owner - 4 months ago
Hey, Allison. It's Cris Criswell, the owner of Swine. I just wanted to reach out to you about your review that went up last week. Is there any chance that the review was from several months back? We haven't offered any mussels for at least 6 months, and we made some drastic changes here at the beginning of the Summer to take care of precisely the problems you note in your review. We have an entire new kitchen staff and our food and service thankfully has been getting raves. So when I saw your review I got a little confused. Can you please let me know if your visit to Swine was as recent as your review suggests? I would hate to have recent reviews that don't reflect the current situation here. Thank you! Best, Cris

Great service, fun ambience. The food, however, was a bit of a letdown. Everything tastes decent, but was expecting more. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. Entrées were very mediocre. My pork chop was a bit dry. We all left some food on our plates. Seemed like nobody really cared to eat more than they needed to. Spent $250+ on food, drinks, and tip for 4... Not too bad by nyc standards but not worth it IMHO. Won't be going back.

I have eaten at Swine several times over the last year and have sampled everything on the menu. It is all delicious and I can't wait to go back again. The service is great and you are truly missing out on one of the best restaurants in the city if you haven't tried it. If you are a vegetarian or a vegan, then you should make an exception for at least one meal.

There's something immediately endearing about a restaurant that names itself off of an animal. Enter the restaurant and you might be confused to if you've entered a dive bar or an arcade by mistake; it's an unpretentious environment that belies the quality of plates served. Brunch is the way to go here; the Eggs Benedict is served with pork belly, instead of the traditional ham, which makes for a savory bite. The signature Brisket Burger is also available then, and is a juicy bite between brioche buns that pairs well with the roasted potatoes on the side. Service was friendly and knowledgeable as well, making for a great experience all-around.

Mic had the brisket & marrow burger, I had the pork chop. Burger was rich and light at the same time, pork chop was amazingly flavorful. Reduction sauce was divine.

The bar service is a bit slow and surly, but at least quick. I wasn't a huge fan of the beer list especially with so many bars offering great craft brews nearby. Only about 6 beers on tap and mostly IPA. Atmosphere is a bit odd with lots of metal band posters and a pinball machine. Interesting place for a few drinks, but a bit pricey and not a huge selection.

Expensive for the quality and choice of food. There's so many good places in New York, this place needs to change it's game before it's worth while.

Will These Food Shops Exist in 2014? http://ow.ly/saPVT
If a shop is only selling one niche item, the assumption is that they must do it well, right?  Micro-focused dining is trending in New York City. It’s a foolproof approach to becoming an immediate standout spot, with potential for lines around the corner and media attention. There’s encouragement from line bait food fads such as the Ramen Burger, breeds of elite cupcakes and the Cronut. A line every day in a major city basically ensures national ...
