"Most tasty BBQ place in Durham, don't care which backyard you came from."

My favorite BBQ place in the triangle. They'll always give you more than enough food and although there's always a line here, the line moves quick. The BBQ plates are what I believe are the best. They come with two sides and there are plenty of sides to choose from. Also, I feel like not very many people know this, but the folks here cook THE BEST smoked turkey you will ever have. I've come here on numerous occasions just to pick up a pound of smoked turkey to eat for lunches throughout the week. Watch out for weekend evenings, parking is always a bit tricky here.

This place is pretty good. The food was fairly good but a little bit too dry. The price was fine and there is plenty of parking spaces.

The hushpuppies! That's always my benchmark for how good a barbeque restaurant is...and Q Shack passes with flying colors! They are absolutely delicious! The are cooked to perfection and have the perfect amount of sweetness that I like. I especially love that they have a vegetable plate option since I don't eat meat. Besides the hushpuppies, my favorite so far is the creamed spinach. I'll have to go back again and see if that changes. :)

Great BBQ. No matter what regional favorite you are looking for this is good all around. Pork, chicken, beef. On a bun or on a plate. Great selection of sides and a good number of beers. If you miss this place you are missing out.

If you're looking for Carolina barbecue, this isn't it. Nevertheless, it's pretty amazing. Very casual (counter service, paper towel napkins.). Hushpuppies are in the upper quartile of bbq establishments in the area. Not all sides are created equal; I gravitate toward the pepper jack spinach and the fried okra. Also, this isn't Carolina bbq, so there's no reason not to order brisket, ribs, or something else down the menu.

I'm not sure if it is the lack of competition or just the low expectations of the locals but I tried the place and the pulled BBQ was average but the taste and tenderness of the brisket was about as far away from Texas as the address in Durham. If you serve dry, tasteless brisket I truly don't understand why you even have it on the menu. No smoke ring, no moisure in the meat, and very little to no marbling at all. My idea of Texas BBQ is not something you have to drown in BBQ sauce to make it edible and the meat should be able to stand on its own with its own merit. The single best aspect of this restaurant is the choice of music but to someone who knows real Texas and NC BBQ you are more than likely going to be disappointed.

The barbecue wasn't what I expected, I was looking for something more eastern N.C. the vinegar sauce didn't have much flavor besides vinegar. The macaroni and cheese was awful. We were really looking forward to the best of Durham, but were very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend that you try this place

Both the brisket and their ribs were terrific. The normal mix of sides to pick from though I would recommend their fried okra if you have not tried it before. Their collards are the shredded kind, so if that is your thing then go for it.
