4 Tips to Help You Sleep Like a Baby

Sometimes it can be very hard to get good restful sleep.

You may have problems that nag at you, worries, unpleasant situations you are going through or even just so much to do and so little time.

Whatever the reason, sometimes it can be hard to get to sleep and when you do, something wakes you at 3am and then you fight to get back to sleep.

After going through some extremely tough and traumatic times myself during the last 6 months, really restful sleep at times was very hard to come by.

Waking up every night to wrestle with problems in my life drove me to find the solution.

Finally I have hit on the 4-step solution that works for me so I thought I would share it.

1. BRAIN DUMP

Before bed or like I do, in bed before sleeping, write down everything that is uppermost in your mind, things from your day that may have come up, whatever you are thinking about, things you need to do tomorrow, just dump it all out on the page so that it is out of your head.

Now I have tried doing this using my laptop as well as pen and paper and let me tell you, old-fashioned pen and paper is the only way. There is something about forming the words on paper that just helps get things out of your head. Don’t forget to write down how you feel about the problem or issue, why it is important and even possible solutions.

Just whatever comes to mind but don’t really think about it just write down whatever you are thinking about.

2. GRATITUDE

It really helps also to spend a little time focusing on what worked today, what good things happened that you can be thankful for.

Instead of your problems, recording things that made you feel proud or happy can really help you sleep more restfully simply by focusing on the positives rather than negatives.

3. MEDITATE

This is really great before you go to sleep. It helps your body and mind to relax and I really encourage you to make it part of your nightly routine. All you need is 5 minutes. Meditate on what you have written down being grateful for, even better, visualise your problems solved and how that makes you feel. Find a form of meditation you like, there are plenty of apps or meditations on youtube and just give it a try. Persist with it over time and I am sure you will find the relaxation will help provide a more restful sleep.

4. DRINK TEA

Drink a warm cup of soothing sleep tea or even just a cup of boiled hot water. There are many sleep blends out there on the market using combinations of herbs that have been used for centuries to promote restful sleep. I encourage you to give it a try.

Now I am not saying that this is a magic formula, but for me, these 4 things every night do help immensely with gaining more restful sleep.

Do you have your own formula for restful sleep?

Let us know how this works for you, we would love to hear your comments.

Stay Awesome!!

TOP 3 BENEFITS OF A MORNING ROUTINE

Yes, a morning routine really helps you power through your day but to really make your morning routine and your day even more powerful, you need to start the night before.

Here are the top 3 benefits I have discovered from having a simple evening routine:

1. AN EVENING ROUTINE HELPS YOU WAKE FEELING MORE PURPOSEFUL

This is especially true if you include planning the next days important tasks the night before. Your brain has already dealt with what needs to be done so when you wake, you have a plan to help you get up and get going

2. AN EVENING ROUTINE HELPS YOU SLEEP BETTER

If you include journalling and meditation as part of your evening routine, these two things combined are a powerful way to deal with and release any issues from you day and get more restful sleep.

3. AN EVENING ROUTINE WILL HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

The key to experiencing this benefit is to review your goals in the evening and make sure you include some small step towards your goals in your planner. To make this even more powerful, visualise completing this goal in your meditation and how you will feel when you have completed it.

So give it a try today. You only need to spend a few minutes or as long as you like and I guarantee you will start to feel the benefits.

Let me know what you discover in the comments.
