Well, I hope you can be of some assistance. There appears to be no way of calling or contacting support directly despite repeated efforts to find an appropriate online resolution.

I purchased my first android phone yesterday to replace a damaged Apple iPhone while in St. Maarten (Dutch side of the island). Samsung Duos running 4.4.4.  After some teeth gnashing, I have a local SIM installed and local phone working again (Chippie Carrier). I am a USA citizen with a home in Nashville, TN. and a home on the island. The Play Store appears to load and ALLOWS me to update Google Apps and offers Editor Suggestions but returns "No Results" for ALL searches I run for apps (free or paid make no difference). I need to d/l at least a few apps I rely on to make this phone useful (i.e. a password manager; scanner app; stock program).

FWIW, my wife has a Samsung 4 on the island running strictly on wi-fi (state AT&T number is disabled to eliminate crazy roaming charges even on airplane mode!). Her Play Store is working flawlessly. Also, I had no trouble using Apple's App Store on my iPhone (and it works on my iPad and my wife's Samsung Android pad also sees the Play Store).

I have gone through the online trouble shooter without resolving the matter. The 'phone is brand new so cache corruption is unlikely in any event and various updates to the OS have taken place over night. Any assistance is welcome. As you may note, we have been a house divided (actually I am agnostic, using tools from Google, Apple, and Microsoft as fit the need); my wife is a devoted Android fan. Hope you can help resolve this matter. TIA for your assistance.

Wish I was in St. M celebrating this birthday today!
In Denmark today, we're celebrating the birthday of astronomer Tycho Brahe. In 1572, after observing a bright star in the Cassiopeia constellation, Brahe wrote De nova stella, in which he refuted the Aristotelian belief in an unchanging celestial realm. Brahe's work—done without the aid of a telescope—paved the way for Johannes Kepler and his laws of planetary motion, and gave us the term "nova" for a new star.

Today's mainstream buzz on possible Apple TV activity renews my conviction TIVO may be the bridge between Apple and the livingroom. I wrote about this topic in June, recent news doesn't change my basic opinion. What's yours? Please share it today as part of this installment of Music Row Tech.

Capped broadband data has finally made its way to my doorstep. This trend bothers me on many levels. Do you have capped data now? Has this cap hit you or someone you know? How do you feel about this fundamental change? I am unhappy!

Have you tried LastPass Wallet? This solution won't help you buy a cup of java at the local coffee shop, but it provides a secure backup for critical documents. LastPass keeps expanding. How do you feel about features in the new release?

Do you still read your local paper? Does your local newspaper have a good online delivery method or are local papers clinging to a traditional print model which is destined to fail and perhaps change the face of local reporting in this country? What are your thoughts?

Orbitz data mining efforts help reveal how targeted online marketing really has become. Apple appears to be defining an identifiable class of consumers for business at large.... How do you feel about this trend?

Sometimes even a case of identity theft can have a funny ending! It is very rare that I laugh even a little about such an event in life so I thought it worth sharing in this week's MRT.
