Carmen Bellos sits down to talk with Samantha Ornellas.

Samantha was born in Cape Town, South Africa. She came to Nashville by way of her husband who signed with a record label. With the craziness of touring and life on the road she did not have the desire or time to paint. She did find a burst of creative energy when she became pregnant with her first child. That’s when she painted a handful of paintings.

Finally at the end of 2010 Samantha made a resolution to paint one painting a month. For Samantha each painting seems to spark more creativity and ideas. She has found that people who see her work are being encouraged as her paintings appear to reflect some aspect of compassion, peace, joy and hope.

Samantha won two awards within the past year at the same show, and another at Art in the Park in Kingston Springs last October, 2015

In this video, Carmen talks with Jackie Cheuvront. Cheuvront was born in Merida, Mexico and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. An emerging acrylic artist, Cheuvront began painting at the age of 5, refining her love of color theory and illustration. Cheuvront’s acrylic illustrations, with dark backgrounds and bright pops of color, that look reminiscent of retro sci-fi film posters and horror pop art. Her artwork is influenced by the murals Diego Rivera and graphic novels. Currently, you can see Cheuvront’s work at art festivals in the Nashville, TN area. She currently lives and works in rural Fairview, TN.

Carmen Bellos, a cofounder of the Great Lesser Known website, a site that identifies and illuminates Mid-Tennessee talented, lesser known, visual artists, had the great fortune to interview Peach McComb an artist that has increasingly become better known in the art community.
In this interview Peach offers insight and sage advice on how she got her work out there.
Peach works mainly in oil and in acrylics and has studied with Frank Baggett, Anne Blair Brown, Roger Dale Brown, Howard Friedland and Mary Whyte.
She is a member of The Chestnut Group of plein air painters for the land, the Nashville Artist Guild, National Oils and Acrylic Painters' Society, Oil Painters of America, and Women Painters of the Southeast.
Peach's work has been published in the Acrylic Artist Magazine Summer 2015 edition and in the Northlight book Acrylic Works 2/Radical Breakthroughs.
Peach’s studio is located in Old Hickory Tennessee.
