Menu
Woodland is a collaboration between Brendan Spiro of the late Vandaag and chef Merrill Moore, fresh off a stint as head cook at Tulum, Mexico’s Hartwood. The open façade allows diners to feel like they’re eating on the sidewalk while an intimate outdoor garden area feels like a homey backyard. The menu is carefully planned: Dinner starts strong with a varied cocktail list and mixed breads served with walnut bitter cream butter and black Hawaiian salt. Appetizers like mild, easy-slurping oysters, and a pan of smoked baby eggplant with crispy, blackened skins are tasty but the venison tartare is a standout, topped with raw egg and dollops of sharp horseradish crème. Entrée highlights include a tender Riesling-braised rabbit; for red-meat enthusiasts, a robust butler’s steak is enhanced by a sharp béarnaise sauce, extra-large potato wedges, and a dose of sea salt. Desserts like a seasonal fruit crisp and a perfectly formed panna cotta end things in deliciously casual style.

Average at best. T-bone was grocery store quality, waitress couldn't open a bottle of wine. Ordered sparkling water and the man we ordered it from didn't know what that was so he brought still water. The rest of our food was ok. But ok isn't enough for this girl from Philadelphia. Staff means well but needs more training.

Best tiramisu I've ever had. Everything else is (overpriced) garbage. Also, if you're a fan of cringeworthy live music, they've got loads of it on Thursday evenings.

I've think I've found a new regular spot. None of the menu missed, and the gratin that accompanied the lamb dish was stellar. They have a great range of light to hearty dishes and the portions are great, not too small but not large either. Sampled several cocktails on their menu and they were all good. Also check out their live music schedule.

There was a nice feel to the place, but we were immediately confronted with what seemed like a confused and slightly disgruntled wait staff. The interior decor and atmosphere is quite nice, there is also a sizable and pleasant outdoor area, where we sat. Drinks were good - but took a very long time to come out despite the fact that there were few people there. We were served by 3 different people which was very confusing for all involved. Our main waitress, while very nice, knew little about the menu - which was over the top high brow with hard to understand description filled with obscure ingredients. The food was quite good, but probably not worth the price. We ordered mussels, potatoes radishes, onion soup, tube steak, and a lungmue salad. My only real complaint with the food was that the mussels were cold. All in all I had a pleasant time but do not know if I am going to return any time soon. Good date place - too expensive for a causal night out.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner at Woodland with some friends, the food, drinks and service was spectacular. I highly recommend the Hendrix East side cocktail and the Half boiled smoked Quail eggs appetizer (even though it's tiny). The only complaint I had was that the very expensive steak was not really good. I'd get something else.
