Utah Jazz  -

I had the chance last month to interview ESPN's Chad Ford, to get his perspective on the +Utah Jazz. You will be interested to hear about his overall impressions of the team, Snyder, Lindsey, Gobert's extension, ceilings for Exum, Gobert, Hood and Lyles, how he thinks the team will fare this season and when he sees the Jazz being contenders. For +Salt City Hoops (not sure why the sideways photo).
NBA fans all know Chad Ford, the long-time ESPN writer who is an NBA Draft guru. Few do it better than Ford, whose analysis has been a constant for years. His ESPN work only entails one aspect of h…

Cool interview. I had no Idea that Ford was a professor at BYU Hawaii, or did anything other than writing for ESPN for that matter.

The Jazz signed center Henry Sims today. Here's a little more about the big man and what he might bring to the Jazz. While the likelihood of him making the regular season roster is not high, he's an intriguing guy to bring to training camp. For +Salt City Hoops.
The Utah Jazz got one step closer to finalizing their training camp roster, inking veteran center Henry Sims. While this appears to be a simple, low-key camp invite, there may be a bit more to Sims…

It was fun sharing some thoughts on the +Utah Jazz's busy offseason, for the +Deseret News . What grade would you give the Jazz thus far?

Overall, I give it an A-. They did the best they reasonably could.

If we compare the Jazz's off season to every team in the league minus the Warriors, then I believe they deserve an A- or an A.

If we include the Warriors, then the highest I could give the Jazz is a B or B-. No way would the Jazz deserve a grade similar to that of GSW.

Chad Ford answered my Jazz-related question in his Facebook live chat (around the 9:00 min mark). Says Utah could shoot for a high upside guy.

The Jazz bench has stepped up, a key factor in Utah's recent success. Here's a  look at the second unit and how their play could impact Utah's Playoff aspirations, for +Salt City Hoops
During the forgettable skid following the All-Star break, the Jazz’s bench play was sporadic. There were nights where the lack of depth was astoundingly glaring. Poor shooting, a rash of turn…

The Jazz's Forgotten Man: Jeff Withey. Some thoughts about Withey, his season, why his signing was a fantastic one and his recent DNP-CDs. For +Salt City Hoops.
Things are starting to really hum smoothly for the Utah Jazz. While they dropped a few heart-breakers of late, they have emerged victorious in nine of their past 12 outings. They look every bit the…

Rudy had 6 boards tonight. Not sure how we are starting to loose rebounding battles with the Wasatch front in there

A lot of the national media is high on the Jazz. Similar to mock draft roundups I've done in the past, here is a collection of articles full of Jazz-related predictions for this season. I even added a few of my own. For +Salt City Hoops.
Outside the Golden State Warriors, few teams had a better off-season than the Utah Jazz. They managed to add three savvy veterans in George Hill, Joe Johnson and Boris Diaw, all while retaining the…

Wherein Brian Windhorst picks the Jazz to finish fourth...in the Northwest division. Wow. He is not impressed with Utah at all.
On this episode of "Posting Up," ESPN's Brian Windhorst stops by to make a slew of predictions about the upcoming season after a wild summer in the NBA. Then, towards the end of the pod, host Tim Bontemps makes an announcement.

Brian blowhard is the worst. A guy that literally swings from a LeBrons nuts. He's one of the last people I'm looking for personal analysis of the NBA beyond LeBron.

So much to digest with the +Utah Jazz trading for George Hill, but here are some early thoughts on how this move can impact the team. For +Salt City Hoops
The NBA Draft is a day away, but the Utah Jazz can already count themselves among the winners. In a big, sneaky good move, general manager Dennis Lindsey and company helped broker a three-team trad…

It was fun being part of the +Deseret News NBA Mock Draft. Seeing as this G+ community is all over the Draft, thought you might enjoy giving this a look (this has the correct link).

Lawuwa is intriguing because he is like an Andre Kirlenko with a decent jump shot.  Then there is Bembry, an athlete that needs a Jeff Hornacek shooting coach, Malik Beasley who is a value in the late first round.  If we stay in the 12th spot Baldwin is the most intriguing with a 6-4" 220 frame of solid muscle 6'11" wing span and can play both guard spots.  He's said to be a selfish as a teamate but you sometimes need a guy like Daymon Green who is fiecty.  Dejounte Murray is also likeable but is only 180 pounds and needs to get stronger and can't shoot that well yet.  He is quick and can easily get around people.  he should  be considered with our 12th pick.

Just two short weeks ago, all the Utah Jazz talk swirled around the impending trade deadline. While names like Jeff Teague, Jrue Holiday, George Hill and Ty Lawson were oft-mentioned by media membe…

Who is the NBA's All-time leader in points accounted for? It is a +Utah Jazz legend, but not the one known for his prolific scoring. Another reason why John Stockton was so, so good. For +Salt City Hoops.
As part of an interesting effort spanning the past month or so, a few media outlets have taken to ranking the NBA’s greats. Usually an activity reserved for the dreary doldrums of August and …

When you look at advanced metrics like PER and points accounted for it is amazing how good he was. He really is undervalued.
