A few thoughts behind the +Utah Jazz's signing of J.J. O'Brien. While he most likely will not make the regular season roster, there are reasons why the Jazz signed him, a player they seem to like.
During the Utah Jazz's recent summer league performance, most eyes were focused on Trey Lyles, Bryce Cotton and the other returning players. Forward J.J. O'Brien felt like an afterthought -- a warm...

The latest 5-on-5 at +Salt City Hoops has the panel discussing +Utah Jazz summer league, roster moves, who has impressed and who has disappointed. What are your thoughts on these five questions?
1. In light of Raul Neto's signing, which three point guards would you like to see on the Jazz roster for 2015-2016? Dan Clayton: Dante Exum, John Jenkins, and Neto. Mostly kidding about Jenkins, b...

Gotcha. I'm super stoked for him and would put him ahead. Just wanted to know if they actually liked him as well.

The Jazz free agent mini camp does not garner much attention, but there are definite reasons behind it. I detailed a few and highlighted five players working out in SLC this week, for +Salt City Hoops
On Tuesday, the Utah Jazz released information about a free agent mini camp the team will be conducting June 9-11. Most probably glossed over that information without taking much notice, especially...

+David Smith Do you know why there seems to be so little interest in Seth Curry? He seems to have improved in the D league.

While either Tibor Pleiss or Ante Tomic might be the more likely options, who are some other potential back-up center free agents that might be on Utah's radar? Here are a few underrated options to keep in mind. Any thoughts on these big men? For +Salt City Hoops
When the Utah Jazz consummated that Enes Kanter trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder in February, it left just Rudy Gobert as the lone true center on the roster. That was okay, as Gobert was obviou...

The latest 5-on-5 for +Salt City Hoops explores five different trade scenarios for the +Utah Jazz involving the #12 pick. Would you do any of these trades?
1.  Jazz trade #12, OKC 1st, & Trey Burke to the New Orleans Pelicans for Jrue Holiday Ben Dowsett: All day, and twice on Sundays. I wrote about Holiday recently, and think he's a great target ...

+Dustin Call true. it would be difficult not to keep the team together until Curry hits FA.

Bryce Cotton has been one of the most impressive +Utah Jazz players the past few weeks. As far as I'm concerned, he has claimed a roster spot. Here are some thoughts on Cotton, who has the potential to be a fan favorite, for +Salt City Hoops.
While his listed 6'1 may feel a bit generous, perhaps no one has played bigger this summer than Bryce Cotton. Often the smallest player on the court, few have performed better. In fact, he is the t...

Chris Johnson is making his case for another regular season roster spot. He's been one of the +Utah Jazz's best players through two summer league games. At a minimum, he might make things interesting come October. For +Salt City Hoops.
With two summer league games -- and two victories -- in the books for the Utah Jazz, it is more than understandable that Rodney Hood and Dante Exum have received most of the attention and praise. T...

One guy had some (jokingly) harsh things to say about the Suns. That section was a little weird. Didn't talk about the draft pick much.

This week's +Salt City Hoops 5-on-5 focuses again on five interesting trade scenarios, none of which involve the #12 pick. The premise behind these deals would be depth. Would you do any of these five trades?
1.  Jazz trade Trevor Booker & Non-Guaranteed Contracts to the Boston Celtics for Kelly Olynyk, Gerald Wallace, and 2018 Memphis 1st Round Pick Dan Clayton: Pass. The Jazz could do worse than O...

the only one I don't do is Spencer Hawes, not sure his offense outweighs the intensity of Trevor Booker

the other four sound good though; Olynyk is a young, promising asset, McBob and Frye have proven themselves; Collison is sketchy because I don't think he's a top-20 starting pg in the NBA

A stretch 4 is definitely on the Jazz's offseason wish list. While they may address that via the Draft or through a trade, here are some potential free agents who are a bit under-the-radar as shooting bigs. They are not the most glamorous of names, but might be nice bench additions. Any thoughts on these guys or any others? For +Salt City Hoops.
Much of last season's success for the Utah Jazz can largely be attributed to the team's incredible improvement on defense. Head coach Quin Snyder really made his mark with his defensive philosophie...

The first iteration of the +Salt City Hoops +Utah Jazz mock draft round-up is here. With all the mocks updated post-Lottery, here they are with a few Jazz-related thoughts on the prospects.
The NBA Draft Lottery has come and gone and while the Utah Jazz did not get lucky, they now know that the 12th pick is indeed theirs on June 25th. With draft positions settled, the next few weeks w...
