Want to improve your #street #photography? If you want to discreetly capture candid moments on the street, you may be tempted to use a telephoto lens, but the best urban scenes usually come from getting close to your subjects. For that reason, we'd suggst a smaller lens. A small wide angle lens, like the AF-S #NIKKOR35mm_f1.4G can help you get close to a crowd, but still capture a broader scene. What will you shoot with a wide angle lens?

What is #urban #photography? It's more complex than one might think. Unlike #street photography, #urbanphotography can be understood as a photographic study & interpretation of an urban scene. It pulls together people, objects, cityscapes, the surreal, in one frame, to capture the photographer's perception of the urban landscape or reality s/he sees. In this image, entitled 'Tatoocycle', the car moves 'into the cyclist, while the dark, uniform tone across subject, car, and background, merges the foreground and background together to create one surreal vision of an urban reality as perceived by the photographer. Have you taken #urbanshots in this way? Share them with us.

Traveling to a new country or city this #summer? Here are some tips to capture the personality of the location:
1. Choose your accommodation wisely. A room with a view, in the center of town, can provide great photographic opportunities before you even step foot on the street.
2. Learn how to say “hello” in the language of the place you’re traveling so that you can greet the locals before you take their photo.
3. Travel slow. Choose the slowest possible mode of transportation, whether that’s walking, car or train so you can meet people and spot opportunities on your way.
4. Go high, and get an establishing shot of the city you’re visiting from above.
5. Last but not least - get a good #Nikonlens!
Do share your images when you return! #HappyTravels
