I'm far away from home (and far away from +The Western Design Center, Inc. by the way) and my L-Star (1) project stopped working, the Propeller on the circuit board isn't responding.

Though I happen to be in a location close to +Parallax Incorporated, I didn't want to wait to get new hardware delivered to work on the project, so I went to Fry's Electronics in Sacramento this afternoon and bought a Propeller Education Kit (2) which is basically a breadboard, a Propeller, some parts, some wires and a great book by +Andy Lindsay.

I built the L-Star project on the breadboard and got the Apple-1 emulator clock to work in an hour or so (including wiring up the Propeller). My first 6502 computer on a breadboard and I really can't make the circuit any simpler than this (at least not unless I emulate the 6502 in an FPGA or something)

Next task: make an OSI Superboard emulator run on it. Extra handicap: no video output available for now. But even though the 6502 on the OSI had direct access to video memory and I have code that I wrote for Vince Briel's superboard project, to emulate the video and keyboard, it should also be possible to make it work with only a serial port, judging from Grant Searle's UK101 page (3). Challenge accepted :)

Until I get that to work, here are some wire pr0n pictures...

LAS VEGAS — Def Con is one of the world’s biggest hacker conventions, an annual gathering of security experts, cryptographers and at least a few people who could surreptitiously drain your bank account if they wanted. They come to Las Vegas to learn about the latest computer vulnerabilities and exploits, show off their skills, and…

107800 Open Propeller Project #5: Explore the Possibilities of MIT's Scratch 2.0 Extensions We would like to develop a graphical programming interface for the Propeller Graphical programming is very popular with our educational customers and we are continually reminded that we need to develop some type of MIT Scratch support for the Propeller. Why would you care about the funny cat carrying the Propeller Activity Board? First, you're a Prope...
