Cat's do not NEED in the same way as a child or a family dog. Not fair to say they don't give a damn, and not a fair test! Cats are all different ... but this was a test of insecurity, not 'love'. They were tested on their FEAR .... not asked to protect their guardian or show love, just insecurity. They are much more independent and able to take care of themselves than dog or a chid, and then criticized for not being upset when they leave the room. They show interest in a new person! If you go out to a party with your spouse and enjoy meeting new people, does it mean you don't love THEM if they can't leave the room for 10 minutes without you visibly pining for them?
