Recker has covered some historical events in Pittsburgh sports including the last game at Three Rivers Stadium for both, the Steelers and Pirates, the final Penguins playoffs series held at the Civic Area and the last Pittsburgh Panthers-Penn State football game in 2000.

“Ryan is born and bred in Pittsburgh and WTAE is pleased to welcome him back home where he belongs” said WTAE President & General Manager, Charles W. Wolfertz III. “Ryan knows the passion our region has for sports. WTAE viewers are going to love what Ryan brings to local television” he added.

“When Ryan first visited us he made an immediate connection with our newsroom, especially the morning team. WTAE is happy to see a home-grown storyteller come back to Pittsburgh in this role” said WTAE News Director Justin Antoniotti.

Ryan attended Nativity Elementary in South Park and Seton-La Salle Catholic High School. He graduated from Robert Morris University with a B.A. in Communications.

“Coming back to Pittsburgh to cover sports is the ultimate achievement in my career. There is no better television market to work in, and the fact that my family is here is icing on the cake” said Ryan. “I am honored to work with WTAE and look forward to reporting on the teams that I grew up with” he added.
