Very good argument as to why API's cannot be copyrightable. I have always said and felt this but never had such a good argument to back it up.
As the software industry waits for the jury to come back with a decision in the copyright phase of the Oracle vs. Google trial, there has been increasing focus on what it might mean if the 37 Java API...

Though I do not torrent any more (and never did from a public listing site like BitTorrent) I think this is great news. I think warrants based solely off of IP address are crazy and a violation of privacy. Good job Judge Brown!

I agree so much with this I am posting it publicly.
Last year physicists commemorated the centennial of the discovery of the atomic nucleus. In experiments carried out in Ernest Rutherford's laboratory at Manchester in 1911, a beam of electrically ...

Got to order my Raspberry Pi today. I can't wait to get back to the US and play with it.

So I think you are thinking of the Spark for the tablet w/ linux. I am also on the waiting list for that when it comes out. The rpi is a SoC running at 700 MHz that consumes next to no power. I have no special plans for it right now, I just plan on letting my inner hacker come out and play when I get it.

I thought juries where supposed to be composed of your peers. Doesn't this mean the jurors should at least know how to program and how to write an API?

Bad decision people. Hopefully, the judge is smart enough to realize it and either grant Google the mistrial or says flat out API's cannot be copyrighted. I would prefer the latter so we don't have to do this again in the future.
There were no winners in Oracle vs. Google. Only losers, including all programmers, and perhaps everyone else as well.

I sure wish America would do the same thing. I think this would also solve Google's problem with Orical and insure API's where not copyrightable. If the jury does side with Orical, we all are in for a world of hurt.

Google was kind enough to let me know that someone signed on to my account in India. It, obviously, was not me. I've changed pw's but if you got an email from me that seems strange, it was not me. I have never asked for money or personal information in an email before (or what ever else someone might do if they hijack your account.) Please let me know if you did get something odd from me. I have no saved address book so mass emailing will probably be very difficult for said person/bot.

This is my first public post, in hopes this information gets to as many people as possible. What happened to google not being evil or letting me use my computer for what I want? Recently I have been caused great grief because Google will not let me send .cxx, .hxx, or .exe files in an email. Why? Because it MIGHT be a virus. I appreciate their concern of me and those I send email's to, but when you write computer code for a living, you will have to send and receive raw code at some point in time. They also do not allow you to get tar balls through the POP service if it has a .cxx, .hxx, and .exe files in it. This is ridiculous! Give me a warning, OK, but let me get what is rightfully mine. If I want to download a virus, and they warn me first, than let me. It is my computer and not their's, after all. It doesn't affect their service or servers in any way if I get a virus. Please, google, change this, or you will be left with no real computer geeks using your services. You already killed your code search, and now you do this. It seems you want me to leave.

Please help fix this by going to https://support.google.com/mail/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=suggestions.cs&rd=1 and under "I have another idea" click Sending and receiving->attachments->others and suggest that they fix this. Especially suggest for them to allow me to download an attachment from another account if I want too. Again, it's my computer and my prerogative to do so. It doesn't seem like they'll listen unless there is a lot of us that complain. So please help! Thanks :)

Wow, it doesn't even let tarballs through? That's dumb. Also... filtering file type by file name is the worst idea, you'd think they'd know that....
