I studied with SPI in San Sebastian, Spain for ten weeks. Nothing but great things to say about the program and the experience. The town was amazing, my host family was extremely friendly and welcoming, and the school program was spectacular. It astounds me how much my Spanish improved. It should be required to study abroad at some point in everyone's life. It changes who you are and how you see the world. If you are on the fence, let SPI put you in touch with some alumni. I assure you you'll be writing your own positive review upon completion!

SPI offers the most well-rounded high school study abroad programs out there! I participated in one of SPI's Spain programs many years ago and it was a defining part of my life. Study abroad is now my career! It's an experience every teenager should have, and I would highly recommend you go with SPI.

My daughter went to Biarritz this summer with SPI Abroad. This was her 2nd stay-with-a-family abroad experience and her 4th overall international study experience. At the last minute after arrival in France, my daughters host family was changed. Nobody told her of the change so she went to the house thinking it was the family for which we received information. The new family didn't introduce themselves by name so it wasn't until the next day when the family members were different that my daughter asked. Only then was she told that the family was changed. She slept in somebody else's house and didn't know it. She called to tell me. Only when I called SPI did they say that yes, she was changed. What?! Then she stayed with a family with 8 other children - plus 2 of their own and the son's girlfriend also lived. So, that makes 13 people in one house - SHARING ONE BATHROOM. I called SPI and they didn't see anything wrong with this arrangement at all. If you don't see anything wrong with 14 people jammed into a house sharing one tiny bathroom then this is the program for you. My daughter is a vegetarian and the "mother" fed her reheated food every day. Half a pizza that the family ate for dinner the night before reheated for her. They ate in shifts at the dining table because there were too many people for the tiny house. The "Mother" called every kid by the wrong name - never bothered to get to know any of them. These kids were boarders, not homes study guests. These people are paid a lot of money to host kids - they should provide the experience. The most disappointing thing was that SPI saw nothing wrong with this arrangement. There are far better programs out there. Chose one of them.

My experience in Biarritz with SPI changed my life! I have to admit I wanted a study abroad program for the fun, but once I arrived I realized there was much more to it! I have traveled outside the US multiple times with my family, but always stayed at hotels, sheltered from the "real world" during this program I stayed with an awesome family who not only helped with my French, but also helped me take in every aspect of the culture. I feel I have a second family in France! The school was very good too! The program was easy on my, my school, and my parents. I felt really safe at all times, and never felt lost or intimidated thanks to the amount of information provided by SPI. Merci beaucoup SPI!

I absolutely LOVED traveling with SPI this summer to Biarritz! My host family was awesome; they helped me with my French a lot during family game nights, watching French movies, and even just talking during meals. We've already skyped once since I've been back home which is pretty cool. We had a lot of freedom on this trip so I got to explore Biarritz on my own and with my new friends (including the locals we met on the beach). Everybody should do this trip :)
