I'm a girl, I don't like beer. I like cocktails. But I'm slowly learning to drink beer. The stepped into the Broadway Bar. Seemed chill. That's a good start. Next, I looked at the extensive beer menu on the wall. OMG, how was I supposed to choose? I guess I could choose it based on alcoholic content- pick the strongest one DUH. Or choose it based on names. I chose some sort of Brooklyn Lager, I figured I should drink some local beer. I didn't know my beer was going to be dark. I don't like dark beers. I should have known that a Los Angeles Lager would be dark! It was quite good though, slightly smoky. I guess next time I'll ask the bartender to help me choose a beer.

Poor, inattentive service. Mediocre food. Has potential to be a casual neighborhood hotspot, but falls short.

Fun atmosphere, DJ plays a good mix of music. Good place for fun with friends, good beer selection. Not very dive-y. More of an upscale casual place.

I have been to Broadway Bar many times, with the exception of a few times, I have had some bad experiences at this place. First of all, the center bar on the first floor is so huge, it takes up about 75% of the room. On busy nights it can be very crowded and needless to say; it can take long to get a drink. Moving on to my bad experiences; on one occasion I went to this place with one of my friends. I'll preface this by saying that he is a bit of a jerk. I ordered a beer and left a one dollar tip, a pretty standard tip for simply opening a twist off bottle. My friend asked her how much I tipped her and she says; "only a dollar", in a very ungrateful tone. This was highly offensive to me and almost made me swear off tipping. This can be a problem if you get the privilege to be let in to this place. One time I came to this place with a group of friends. We all got let in except for one. They didn't let him in because he dropped his ID as he was handing it to the bouncer. On another occasion I didn't get let in. I was waiting in their line for about 20 min, when I reached the front they asked me for $10 cover. It was really dark so I stepped in so that I could get some light to look in my wallet. I didn't want to accidentally give them a twenty. They told me that since I could not see my money I must have been too drunk and therefore they could not let me in. I like how we have to pay $10 for the privilege of paying for and overpriced drink with rude service. The only reason I frequented this place was because my friends like it for some reason. I have never said; hey! Lets got to Broadway Bar. I don't think I will visit this place again, even if someone invites me. They do not deserve my business, or my dollar tips for a beer bottle.

Loud place. Lots if craft beer and decent appetizers. We stopped in after a CA show. The tables are communal, which is nice. You see a seat and it's yours. You have to order at the bar and the food is delivered to your table. The staff is very pleasant and service is swift. I'm not much into the loud crowd, so I gave it 4 stars. Others may give it a 5. It was tough to have a conversation in there. GREAT Beers tho.

Great rotating craft beer selection, also the real gems are the cask ales which are exceptionally difficult to get. Cask ales aren't for everyone, but if you're a beer aficionado you need to try them. Prices are reasonable. The only downside to this place is that it's a constant battle to find a place to sit or counter to lean on since the venue is so small and it's constantly busy.

Broadway Bar has an interesting venue, including an upstairs section and a few booths downstairs to sit. On the weekends this place is packed, and seems to always have a huge crowd on holidays. They serve a few specialty cocktails and all your typical drinks. The layout intrigues me. Broadway Bar is part of a family of bars in LA. It's definitely a defining location in LA.
