Post is pinned.
So I'm going to try a thing. I've got a zillion game design projects going on, and I am trying to organize my energy and thought processes so that I can be more intentional about finishing and/or tabling the projects.

At my current job, I'm working the night shift, and I get a pretty substantial break starting at 3 AM each night. I want to use this time to work on games.

So I'm creating an opt-in collection for this. Each weeknight, I plan to post what I worked on during that session, including links to the relevant in-progress Drive documents. I'm hoping that having an audience, even a tiny one, will help keep me honest; this is basically a workout regimen.

So, yeah, if this interests you at all, reply or +1 this post to opt into this collection.

What dead game would you like to see reborn?

I guess this is referring to old, out-of-print-and-fashion games that nobody remembers or talks much about? IDK I don't have all that much attachment to the past. Let's say Trollbabe. I'd like to see that revisited 15 years on.

I feel like it's got a particular hippie escapist vibe that hasn't influenced as much indie gaming as it has the potential to. And I wanna see it with new art!

Where do you go for RPG reviews?

I don't like RPG reviews. RPG criticism is more interesting to me. The distinction I'm drawing is
review = is it good or bad?
criticism = some sort of analysis of what goes on in it

I don't really know of anywhere written down that regularly provides interesting criticism to me. Some of the academic journals have good stuff sometimes, though that seems pretty dominated by larp folks. And while I'm legit interested in larp, it's not what I'm most interested in.

What is a good RPG to play for about 10 sessions?

I'm gonna say Swords Without Master because in my experience, after about 10 sessions you've basically explored the different narrative fuckery options the game provides you, and you can feel you've played it to its fullest

What is a good RPG to play for sessions of 2 hours or less?

+Arnold Cassell taught me that Remember Tomorrow truly sings when you push the tempo to finish under 2 hours.

What was your most impactful RPG session?

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, of course, but:

Round about mid-2009, I ran an Unknown Armies campaign for six players. In one session, the Freak showed up, in all its genderfluid glory, wrecking shit and generally making an impression. Fast forward to today, and at last count, 4/6 (maybe 5) players now use different pronouns than they did then.

It's the only logical explanation.

You can game every day for a week. Describe what you'd do.

I attempted this in college with different tabletop games. It was a burnout fiasco. I think in order for this to work, it'd have to be one of them blockbuster larps. Honestly not sure I'd want to, though; a week's a long time to remain immersed.

What RPG have you played the most since August 2016?

1) Burning Wheel
2) D&D 5

September 2016 was when we moved to this apartment, so it's fairly easy to mentally place whether games happened in the past year or not. Burning Wheel continues to be the comfort food of RPGs for me, which I'm just fine with.
