Good morning Chicago
Photo

I would build an augmented reality based running guide. Along with the displaying the basics driven from connect devices (hrm/speed/distance) it would track animals/vehicles/etc I saw on my run. It would also create an automatic time lapse of common points and display historical data while I'm running, along with cool information about the area.  #ifihadglass

Not meaning to spam but I just posted an app as a beta to the play store if anyone has a moment to check it out please do and let me know what you think.  The app is currently only really optimized for large displays (phones as big as or bigger than Galaxy Nexus or ideally tablets).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.com.chitowngames.DigitalDoodler

Basically the app is just like Sketchbook Pro, except its free.  You can modify the brush hardness, softness, opacity, create multiple layers, merge/duplicate/mirror layers, use two fingers with the layer tool selected to scale the selected layer one finger to move it.  Secondary menus are accessed by touching an already selected tool (secondary menus for brush, eraser, and layers).  Anyone looking for a good drawing app for free without ads, I think I've made the best one I've seen so far (also let me know if this is a false claim I'd like to know what is the best).

If you have any problems installing/running please let me know what kind of device you're using so I can test further.

Anyone interested since this is developers the code is AS3 compiled with Flash Builder 4.6.  The source and resources are hosted at github for all to fork
https://github.com/wafflejock/FingerPainting

The biggest issue I encountered during the development of the application was in attempting to use the Camera class in AS3 which intermittently wouldn't work if it wasn't initialized immediately and even then would intermittently work.  As a fallback I ended up using the CameraRoll and just giving the user the ability to select from their existing images, I also plan to include an option to jump right to the devices camera app using the CameraUI class.

I plan to also release this on iOS just to get to learn their process.  In doing so I'll have to remove 1 piece of functionality, the share option included in this app is currently achieved using an AIR Native Extension (ANE) which is compiled for use on Android procs on the Android OS and won't work in iPhone (also no sharing option built into the OS there so probably will just remove that feature or turn it into a direct e-mail).

I chose to write this application using AS3/AIR due to my familiarity with the language/platform and since it's a drawing tool and AS3 is primarily focused on tasks that easily translate into drawing tools (lots of it is already focused on programmatic drawing).  Also it allows me to deploy across Android and iOS, my only fear was performance, but I've gotten the app performing as good or better than most of the other drawing apps I've tried currently in the play store.
