And, the sequel to the previous post. The author rightly says "“Birth should ideally be a partnership between birthing mother and caregiver. ....... But I do firmly stand behind the protection of a woman’s intelligence and dignity during birth, and that means that she has to still have her rights in the birthing room.”

"When you have come to the edge of all the light you know and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen: there will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly"— Patrick Overter

Surrendering yourself to labor and birth requires the same faith!

"Birth is a rite of passage of women. Their journey should be honored, their rights should be fiercely protected, and their stories should be shared.” ~Marcie Macari

Newborn babies cannot be spoilt .. they need to be fed (breastfed) frequently .. they cry for all sort of reasons, many times just because they would like to be held close .. good article reminding parents just how needy babies are!

Women need to have access to good quality data. They do not need to have their risks for VBAC exaggerated or minimized. Each and every woman, who is otherwise healthy, should have access to this data to have a good conversation with their care providers re: having a VBAC!

While we usually talk about the importance of an undisturbed birth, an undisturbed immediate post-partum is equally, if not more important!

Good read! Every mother has a right to full informed consent; she also has the right to refuse to consent! Read on for both the original piece and its sequel ..

Excellent advice and tips! Being a VBAC momma myself, the single most important thing that helped me through my own birth, was my OB not saying, "you can try, but ... " Once I was in the hospital, it also helped that no one treated me any differently than a first time mom in labor. As far as the describing the experience .. words are hard .. amazing, healing, empowering, and the post-partum was such a breeze, not only because my body was not hurting, but because bonding and breastfeeding were so amazingly natural and easy!
Had a caesarean and thinking about having a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) next time around? This great VBAC article is chock full of advice, tips and beautiful birth photos from mothers who hav...

A strongly worded article - the link in the very first paragraph is to a video .. amazing how big corporations are adding additives after no or very poor research. As the author says, do not feel guilty if you have already formula fed your baby; but do know the dangers, and do advocate for breastfeeding henceforth.

" Pregnancy and birth need our respect - not our intervention."

While interventions when used for appropriate reasons can be life-saving, they should not become routine procedures. Letting mothers be mothers, not making them patients, usually leads to better outcomes - both short-term and long-term - for mothers and their babies.
