As an atheist, I accounted for my experiences through the lens of naturalism. I believed everything I experienced and observed could be explained in terms of natural causes and laws. I never thought deeply about the inconsistencies in my view of the world, or the fact that my naturalism failed to explain three characteristics of my daily experience:

If God exists, why doesn’t He make His existence more obvious? Why are there times when God seems completely absent?

t’s one thing to believe that the Gospels are true and that Jesus rose from the dead. It’s another to trust Jesus as your Savior.

If God is loving, why would He allow bad things to happen to the people He loves? Might God know more about the interconnectedness of actions than we do? Would this knowledge, including perfect knowledge of all future events, impact the manner in which He might allow evil?

It’s far easier to train up influential, popular Christians than it is to “celebritize” great Christian thinkers. None of us, as apologists, are likely to have the attention of a nation like these Christian celebrities. The country already admires their skillset and character; now it’s time for the apologetics community to reach out to folks like these to help them better represent the Christian intellectual community.
