So, I was in a  #Target  (Canada) store yesterday and I bought a knit cap. I figured, 'Why not?' because it was only $3. It was likely that price because they had a tonne of them just that one style, one size in a choice of grey or navy.  What they did not have was any other men's hats, any scarves or any gloves, and it is a bit early for the spring clothes to start showing up.

The store I was is a big two-level space in Ontario's largest shopping centre -- Square One. However, as I walked around the store, I realized they carried a huge variety of different types of things, but that they did have much much in each of those categories. So for example, they didn't have much in terms of men's clothes, and they didn't have much in terms of groceries.

If their prices were significantly cheaper I might start there despite their limited selection, but their prices aren't cheaper.  Likewise, if I felt they had cool things I could have only bought there (like Costco), I might have started there, but again, for my shopping, there wasn't that advantage.

I have never shopped at a Target in the States, but on the day they announced they were pulling out of Canada, I wandered into one of their stores and realized, I am not surprised they are going.
