Been using Digital Ocean for all of my servers lately.  Actually have canned all of my physical dedicated machines.  All of their storage is SSD and deployments happen really quickly. They have a nice interface and an API to control VM's with.   https://www.digitalocean.com/?refcode=d6d348e3b452

Meant to reply to this about a month ago, but just wanted to say I agree with what you say there.  The weird thing about Linode is they list the hourly pricing, but anytime you deploy a VPS, they charge you upfront for the instance cost for a month.  Digital Ocean certainly makes more sense when you don't plan on having an instance up for a month or more.  Yes, Linode does do prorated refunds, but still, if I want to deploy a 64 GB VPS for a few hours, I'd much rather pay about 2 dollars at DO than pay 640 at Linode, and then get the rest refunded later.

It would be cool if DO let you deploy custom images though.  Because I can, I'm going to try to deploy a Manjaro installation on my one Linode later tonight.  :)

Google translate is fun. We could start using it for some of our translations... I think the translation quality is really high these days.

On the other hand stings that need no context such as "OK" and "Cancel" could get translated automatically.

Built a machine for steamos.  After spending an hour yesterday installing SteamOS, I figured out that it sucked pretty quickly.  Steam definitely did some neat things in it, however going with Debian + and installing old versions of packages and removing firmware-* packages was an odd descision.

I decided that I could make something better.  After 4-5 hours of tweaking, I have a working "SteamArch" OS.   It boots directly into steam tenfoot / big picture mode, and works really well.  It also as newer video drivers (latest 12.13 fglrx catalyst only at the moment)

I plan on making it public soon.  It will take a little Linux knowledge to install, but it should make for a much better steamos than steamos.

Small update, the most recent steamos beta updates solve a lot of issues. Actually leaning back to stock steamos at this point. Found another firmware blob on bugzilla.kernel.org that fixed all of my Bluetooth issues

Place is extra slow in the mornings... Even when not busy. Donuts are good but there are better mom and pop places around.

This place has been around for a *very* long time. I remember going here as a kid. Been a few years since I've been but it was always well kept.

Terrible service center. Extremely slow and extremely busy. You can drop your car off early in the morning at 9am for basic service (oil change) and have it still not done at 5:00pm

Used to be a great place to find a lot of neat / rare computer related items. You could rummage for an hour plus. Their inventory has dropped within the last year or so however. Now they pretty much just sell overpriced old computers with a fresh copy of Windows installed and 100's of used wireless routers.

Doctors are wonderful, however they use an external billing company which seems to screw up a *LOT*. The office in Katy had a down credit card machine, and they took my credit card info manually... a month later we got a letter saying we owed money. We contacted OGA and paid as soon as we got the letter... now they are sending us to collections for money already paid! Great way to do business... send a customer to collections before letting them know they owe money, and after they already paid you... twice!

Overall they seemed like a pretty shady place to buy a car... high pressure sales, 'boxing' you into their negotiation area, suspect microphone clipped to the ceiling in the 'negotiation' room, playing 'good-cop / bad-cop' with their manager. I walked out and went to Sterling McCall and got the invoice up front and they didn't play any games. Got the same car for the fair price I was looking for.
