Oh, honestly... From what I can tell the primary reason for that other platform's dominance is that it had enough of a headstart with the non-technical crowd to blackmail the rest of us to into it as well.

White hat or black hat?

There is a company that offers video conferencing services. In testing out the product, I've discovered an interesting bug/feature. The avatar component uses the participant's email address as part of the filenaming convention for icon files. These are not cache files either. These are kept as part of the application support files.

This seems problematic. A commercial computer application should not be putting your complete email address as part of the filename onto other people's computers, especially not files that would not regularly be eliminated like cache files.

So the question at hand is how let both client/users and the company know about this problem in a responsible way. Suggestions?

Thank you!

This is a great day for everyone. Women can be and are sometimes better than men in fields like mathematics.

Here's a statement:

The segment of the population that complains the most about entitlements are also the same people who benefit the most from them. It might be possible to show that they are also literally taking the money, food, and resources out of the system faster than it can be replaced for generations and that their general selfishness may be looked back up and the true downfall of the United States as a world power and leader.

I understand that this might be controversial, but just for shits & giggles, what do people on G+ think in terms of its overall accuracy or lack thereof?

Update:

No, names will not be released. Nameless they were and nameless they remain. They know who they are, but more importantly, they actually responded in a very reasonable and responsible fashion. They are working on the problem and it should be resolved with the next release.

I'm not sure that I knew what to expect when I began this process, but I have found it to be a fairly satisfying endeavor in that it confirmed our thinking about human nature as it applied to this process.

Thank you for your time, patience, cooperation and participation on this matter!

You are who you are and your citizenship is one of those captive audiences kind of thing. Good, bad or indifferent, you got the hand that you were dealt, but that aside, it isn't horrible being American.

On the other hand, consider this quote from the article: "Britain's secret service MI5 is in seventh place, the army at 46, the navy at 56, with the Royal Air Force behind at 91. 15 years ago, the ban on LGB people serving in the military was lifted."

When will we be able to say similar remarks about the American Military?

We can't do everything and we can't be everywhere. We can only do the job that lies before us and hope that the job is on someone else's to-do list. But all that aside, every one of these deaths is an indictment us as people and the world we've made.

I'm not really certain that any of these companies can actually prove, in a substantial way, the amount of data used by any given individual via their phone. That's not to say that they don't have the technology to do it. I suspect that much of their figures are probably more along the lines of highly educated estimates that tend to be extremely accurate; however, I'm sure that there are instances where the results generated are beyond two delta realm and it seems to me that it's quite possible that sometimes some of the companies just make stuff up out of whole cloth.
