Status Update's lose 40% of their Organic Reach. This should be the last significant change we should see to the content types for some time. All of the content types are roughly equal... with the exception of Videos...

Organic Reach for Facebook Pages has mostly decreased since the latest significant change on December 2nd. We took the time to examine the change has impacted Pages 28 days before and after the change. Our findings were similar to our preliminary study:

Facebook recently made a significant change to the news feed. Many Admins saw drastic drops in Reach (we saw a few Pages lose 90% of their Reach). We studied the data closely to see how the average Page was impacted.

We found that Reach had decreased on December 2nd by about -19%. However, since September we've seen a drop from 12.6% to about 7.7%.

Interestingly, we found evidence of a "quality score" for Pages. We're working hard studying what goes into a Page's quality score and why some Pages were positively impacted by the change.

All the details and graphs: (Notice the 2 pages that were crushed)

Had fun analyzing Thanksgiving & Black Friday data. Here are the graphs that came out of the analysis.

Lucky & Unlucky WRs Through Week 8

How Do I Use This?
I focus most of my time analyzing WRs, as they tend to have the biggest upside for me (PPR). I recommend using this in a few ways:

#1 Use to identify "unlucky" WRs to try to trade for them, as they should bounce back to at least the average.

#2 Use to identify "lucky" WRs on your team, who you may want to try to trade before they fall back to the average.

#3 Pick up "unlucky" WRs on the waiver wire, wait until they return to the average for better performance.

Growth Hack Fail For The Win?

A few weeks ago, I discussed going with a free business model with ShareGrab. Last week, we blasted a few of our email lists and now this week we seem to be sitting on more "normal" traffic. I wanted to take this time to update you on the results so far.

Comparing the Monday-Wednesday before the decision and Monday-Wednesday of this week, we're experiencing nice total growth (up 3x). Direct traffic is up 3x, Social traffic is up 8x, and Bounce Rate is down (15%). What surprised me the most is Search traffic being up 6x.

Going free was the first part of the "Growth Hack". The second part was implementing a widget that enabled users to share their Top 8 to the public. The second part, the widget, has been met with little use. So far we've had a whopping 1 person publish their Top 8. Hardly a growth hack, as it stands today.

My next phase is understanding why this button is not being used? Is it not understood? Is there no demand? What is the job-to-be-done for the button? Things must be reframed and analyzed.

We've had a handful of inbound Tweets excited about the news of a free ShareGrab, also a few public Tweets telling their followers about the tool. This is most likely the source of the increase in Social traffic. Excitement is there, but we need to increase our viral coefficient to >1.
