In 2011, National Geographic put together a list of the top 10 places in the world to get ice cream. Capogiro Gelato was #1. That, aside from my love of gelato in general, was more than enough to pique my interest and head on over to Capogiro for a scoop or two. The store is super cutesy. When you walk in, gelato stares at you in the face, egging you on to make a selection. There are tables and chairs that surround the perimeter of the gelateria and high windows that let bystanders see you enjoying that cup or cone of gelato and unconsciously force them to come in too. I asked for a piccolo cup of pistachio gelato, my favorite. Capogiro makes their gelato with all fresh ingredients. The milk comes from Amish grass-fed cows from nearby Lancaster County. The owners seek out locally grown ingredients and their menu rotates seasonally. Some unique flavors include Madagascar bourbon vanilla, Thai coconut milk (with a dash of rum), zucca (long-necked pumpkins from Lancaster County), black walnut, Rosemary Honey Goat's Milk, melograno (pomegranate), nocciola piemontese (hazelnut gelato), or Lancaster County d'anjou pears. Aside from gelato, Capogiro also serves sorbetto, pastries, cheese, La Colombe coffee, and espresso. My pistacchio Siciliano was fantastic. Creamy, velvety texture and a beautiful olive green color (and not that frightening neon/bright green color that some other places present as "pistachio" gelato). It's a bit pricey ($4.75 for a piccolo/small cup) but worth it on those splurging days. I went to Italy in September and ate gelato to my heart's content. Although I myself would not place Capogiro as #1 in the world as Nat Geo did, I do give them two thumbs up for using all-natural ingredients, making unique flavors that can't be found in many other gelaterias, and for generally making one delicious, makes-me-want-to-come-back-for-more gelato. If you can't have gelato from Italy, Capogiro is your next best bet.

The gelato tastes amazing and there's good variety of flavors, several of which I'd never seen before anyplace else, such as Fior Di Latte and the Chocolate Banana.

Great gelato place, always visit here after going to El Vez across the street. Stay away from the rambutan and fig combination, it tastes like flowers. That's what I get for ordering something I saw off Chopped (smh).

The Dulce la Leche ice cream, Philly Cheesecake ice cream and Amish milk ice cream were some of the best i've ever tasted. I cant speak for the rest of flavors (yet) but this place is amazing. The prices are a little high but what can you expect when this place was just ranked #1 in the world by National Geographic last year?
