Introducing GA Spy for Google Analytics

This is a guest post by +Stephen Harris from +Seer Interactive, who kindly agreed to release the tool as a guest post on my blog.

The tool creates a listener, which lets you tap into commands sent to the ga() global function. You can do whatever you want with these commands before they are actually compiled into GA requests. Use cases include:

- Convert ga() commands automatically to dataLayer.push() calls, creating a seamless transition from hardcoded GA to GTM
- Create more robust and verbose logging of ga() commands
- Implement plugins and set fields for all GTM tags (without modifying tracker settings) within Google Tag Manager (article about this coming out in a short while)

It's such a versatile solution for improving the way the web page and Universal Analytics communicate with each other. Read the post and follow the links to Stephen's GitHub project - he has more examples over there!
