Anyone going tonight? It will be great.

Join us Thursday at 6 p.m. for Pritzker Military Presents: John F. Ross, "Enduring Courage: Ace Pilot Eddie Rickenbacker and the Dawn of the Age of Speed." http://www.pritzkermilitary.org/whats_on/pritzker-military-presents/john-f-ross-enduring-courage/

"At the turn of the 20th century, two new technologies—the car and airplane—took the nation’s imagination by storm as they burst, like comets, into American life. The brave souls that leaped into these dangerous contraptions and pushed them to unexplored extremes became new American heroes: the race car driver and the flying ace. No individual did more to create and intensify these raw new roles than the tall, gangly Eddie Rickenbacker, who defied death over and over with such courage and pluck that a generation of Americans came to know his face better than the president’s."

This program is presented in partnership with St. Martin's Press.

I'm speaking Saturday at Pritzker - did you register? I'm talking about military genealogy. You won't want to miss this!

Don't forget, we're offering free admission all day on Saturday! http://www.pritzkermilitary.org/events/upcoming-events/2014-memorial-day-activities/

In honor of Memorial Day, all visitors will receive free admission to the Museum & Library—including free access to our new exhibit and hourly tours by PMML staff—and are invited to take part in any or all of the following FREE activities:

• At 10:30 a.m., genealogist Jennifer Holik will discuss her work and offer advice for those interested in tracing their lineage as it relates to the military.
• At noon, Museum & Library staff, interns, and volunteers will participate in the city of Chicago Memorial Day Parade (look for us on the "Operation Iraqi Freedom" float).
• At 1 p.m., join us for a big-screen showing of "Tears of the Sun" the fourth film in May's Navy SEAL-themed Saturday Matinee Series
• Throughout the day, veterans and those who have actively supported the military are encouraged to share their stories of service with the Museum & Library’s Holt Oral History Program, which seeks to preserve the history and heritage of American citizen soldiers through firsthand accounts of their experiences.
