The #KalashSthapana takes off from the custom of sowing barley (or seven different grains) in small pots and commencing the puja
of the Goddess. In this case, the ceremony takes place in the courtyard of the Danteshwari temple of Jagdalpur, inside the palace. The paraphernalia of the puja is centered around a small clay pot, fresh and clean soil and seeds of seven grains, Ganga Jal (sacred water), sacred red thread known as mauli, perfume, betel nut, coins, flowers, mango tree leaves, unbroken rice, unpeeled coconut, red cloth and durva grass.

On this ceremony, villagers bring a cluster or small branches to install a mandap at the Sirasar Bhavan. The advent of better facilities has not tarnished the old-age ceremony till date.it is fascinating to see colorfully dressed tribals come into the town, branches propped on their heads, to firmly make these stand in the tiled hall of Sirasar Bhavan

On the first day of Bastar Dussehra, tribals from the region bring a burly piece of sal tree log to the gates of the Bastar palace, in front of the in-house Danteshwari Temple, in order to make the tools that are eventually used in the making of the annual chariot. Locally, the making of turlu khotla, or wooden tool, is to commence the festival.
