Dear Sue
We have arrived safely home and the trip was fab.
Gulliver travels were very attentive and were there to meet us as appropriate and provided really helpful advice throughout the trip.
In terms of specific feedback:
·         Arrival was smooth, we were all met and safely transferred to the hotel

·         The Hosteria at Papagaya – at first were unaware that we had paid for the royal package and therefore single rooms but once pointed out sorted us all out.  It was a lovely setting and comfortable with generally good service.  If we were to be picky it would be that the water supply (predominantly hot water for the shower) was extremely temperamental – when walking in the cold up the volcanoes each day this was a bit of discomfort.  We didn’t experience it anywhere else – not even on the boat.  It did just appear to be a maintenance issue

·         The first 2 hikes were good – less forward information given to us by the guide so left late for the 2nd days hiking meant we were too late to go right to the top

·         The Cotopaxi climb and guides were excellent.  Whilst we never made it to the top because of extreme weather conditions we couldn’t fault the guides and food etc.

·         Our day trip to Quilitoa was also excellent.  The guide and the driver had planned the day well and were flexible to incorporate some options about what we may or may not want to do.  Learnt loads and we all really enjoyed the day

·         Back to the hotel in Quito – hotel was comfortable and the staff fairly helpful so no complaints

·         The trip to Galapagos really met our expectations.  The travel arrangements worked well and we were met by the guide and transferred to the boat.  The boat was very comfortable and food excellent.  All the boat crew were friendly and helpful and the guide experienced.  We saw everything we wanted to see and felt we got maximum opportunities in the relatively short timescale.  Travel arrangements on the way back were equally efficient

To summarise we had a really good trip and loved Ecuador and the people
As ever thank you for arranging such a personalised trip

10 days Anaconda Expedition 05/08/2013 - 14/08/2013

Thought I would let you know how amazing our trip was!!

It was everything we expected and more. Our guide Conrad knew every answer to the every question we asked and knew soo many people that we really could chop and change our itinerary and do some cool stuff with the locals.

We expected to see some wildlife but we were really blown away by how much we saw. I think the quality of our guide made the difference between the average tour and a fantastic one.

All In all the best holiday we have both ever had.

Hi Sue,

Thanks for your email. The part of the trip to Africa we organised through Footprints was fantastic. Zara who operated the trek in Tanzania on your behalf were a very good company. The staff who looked after us on Kilimanjaro were especially good. In particular, our three guides: Augustine (nicknamed Babuu), Martin and Richard really looked after our well being; and our waiter, Robert, who made sure we had everything we needed and always had a welcoming smile for us to lift our spirits. Please pass on our thanks to them and I would appreciate if you could let Zara Tours know as their employer how good they were.

Compared with the other British based companies who I got quotes from, yours was the most competitively priced and knowing that all the British companies I was quoted from used Zara in Tanzania, I feel like we got real value for money from you.

I regret not organising our safari with you as unfortunately this was not as smooth as the Kilimanjaro trek. For your information we used Asante Tanzania, although they then used another company within Tanzania (who I can't remember the name of). Please can I recommend you do not use this company locally as we were not treated well on average.

Again, many thanks for your part in our trip.

Kind regards,

Happy Kilimanjaro Group

I booked a trip with Footprints in the UK to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (30th July-5th August 2013) and we were placed with Zara Tours in Africa.

I am writing to let you know what a fantastic experience myself and the rest of the group had climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

I truly believe this experience was all down to the fantastic team we were allocated. From the moment we met our guide Godlisten, we were made to feel at ease and completely comfortable.

The climb itself was particularly difficult for a few of us in the group due to altitude sickness, and not once did this become an issue, the faith the whole team had in all of us, and the strength they gave us had a huge impact and resulted in us reaching our goals.

Godlisten went above and beyond his role as guide, he kind nature and passion was clearly evident and nothing was ever too much trouble. He was humorous when needed, caring when needed and more importantly someone we all trusted completely.

Rogita and Yessay went above and beyond, caring and encouraging two climbers who found the Summit day very difficult due to sickness, there patience and support was indescribable, two of the most caring hardworking people I have ever been fortunate to meet. For their support I will be eternally grateful.

Our Porters, Waiters, Cooks etc were always smiling, and created such a positive atmosphere with a 'Jambo' greeting no matter what time of the day it was. They would often help us in and out of our tents, and take our boots off for us, such simple gestures that really meant so much when you were struggling with sickness, or just tiredness. We are aware this is not part of their job, and just emphasized how wonderful these people are.

The food we recieved was not only delicious, but came in abundance, we never managed to finish it all, (not for lack of trying). The food was served to us by Sampson and Riceon, who were always smiling and made us laugh lots. Something which was highly appreciated after a cold, tough day climbing.

Our night always ended with Godlisten checking we were happy and content, teaching us a bit of Swahili, and ensuring all our questions were answered. We then enjoyed a small song, which lifted spirits every evening.

What i felt was extremely important is that all the guides were genuinely interested in talking to each of us, and exchanging stories of home. This built a trust, which was fully needed when climbing such a big mountain.

I can not express my admiration and gratitude enough in this email for the whole team, as words can not fully  describe how I feel and the amazing experience the team gave me.

I would highly recommend your company and Godlisten's team to anyone who is wishing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, as I do not feel we could have had a better experience. It truly was in the words of Godlisten 'Digala, Digala'. Anyone who is lucky enough to find themselves being guided by this wonderful group will experience the trip of a lifetime.

Please would you pass on my heartfelt thanks to ALL of the team.

Yours sincerely

Dear Georg and Sue

Please feel free to put on your web site

My daughter and I have recently returned from what must be out fifth or sixth 'footprint adventure'.  This time a ten-day private tour that took us first to Nepal and then Tibet.

We used Nepal as a staging post and a place to obtain our Tibet Tourist Visas. Footprints' local ground handling agents were superb. The visa formalities were all done for us giving my daughter and I an opportunity to see the sites in and around Kathmandu - including a flight to see Mt. Everest from the air. Our hotel - The Samsara- in Kathmandu was more than adequate and well situated. The Manager and the local Footprint Rep (Raj) did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. I would also very strongly recommend the restaurant close by -- Thamel House. It was very moderately priced with outstanding food!!

From Nepal we flew to Lhasa in Tibet, again flying over Mt. Everest. We were met by our guide (Sonam) and driver. We spent the next week being guided around the city and then driving the Friendship Highway back to the Nepal border. The vehicle provided was nearly new and very comfortable; the Tibetan roads were good. The driver and guide excellent. Sonam was a fountain of knowledge and always keen to make our vacation a great success. The weather was perfect and the changing scenery .... stunning

Again, I can fully recommend Footprints. They have never let us down and I look forward to traveling with them again. Thank you Georg and Sue

Dear Sue,
We have been meaning to write to you to thank you for organising the most amazing holiday for us. We have been sharing our stories and photos with friends (the photos now down to a more manageable number!) so the holiday continues for us!
We have a couple of observations to make which may help you in the future.
Nu House hotel was very comfortable but now the airport for Quito is some way out the taxi ride in did take some time, especially in the evening when the traffic was very bad. This was slightly frustrating when returning from the jungle knowing we would have to be up at 5.30 to make the return journey the next day. As it is only used as a base a hotel nearer the airport would be good.
We also thought a free day to explore Quito would have been useful, maybe between the jungle and the boat trip. it would have also given us an opportunity to go to a launderette (needed!!) between these 2 parts of the holiday. In that case the hotel location would not have been such an issue.
Going to the Galapagos for the final part of the holiday was great. it was the highlight.
The Beluga was a very good boat to go on. Trip Advisor comments had said how good the food was, how polite and helpful the crew were and generally how comfortable it was. We would fully endorse all those comments.
Sylvia, our guide, was wonderful. Born in Switzerland but has lived out there for 35 years meant her English was very good.
The first part of the holiday was interesting but moving every night was a bit exhausting. However, i don't know how this could be avoided as we did see a lot. As Cotapaxi was shrouded in cloud (we did get up to the refuge hut in a hail-storm) maybe our guide should have been more flexible and suggested the crater lake that day (accessed from the hacienda) and then an earlier return to Quito the following day.
i hope these observations are helpful to you. We have recommended your company to other friends as we were delighted with the holiday as a whole.
Many thanks,
