Zengo is an artful blend of Latin-Asian styles and flavors. Chef-owner Richard Sandoval, whose accolades include Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year and Mexico's Toque d'Oro, spins regional ingredients into beautifully balanced dishes designed for sharing.
The beverage menu features innovative, hand-muddled cocktails as well as Latin wines, Japanese sakes and over 400 Tequilas. The vibrant décor fuses traditional and contemporary tastes, the perfect setting to savor Zengo's acclaimed cuisine.

I went to this place with a group of 6 people. The atmosphere is nice, there is lots of seating on the second floor. Drinks were definitely better than food. Waiter was very attentive and food and drinks were delivered fast. However I would say food and drinks are overpriced. I ordered Angry Zengo sushi, it comes with 8 unimaginatively served pieces, very bland with no presentation whatsoever. The sushi pieces were tiny. Definitely not a main course and you will need to order something else. Edamame beans were tasty, they were a bit burned on the outside which gave them a nice flavoring. Would go back for drinks but definitely not food.

Went with a group of 7 that turned into 9 (but that was cool......they accommodated us just fine). I ordered the chipotle miso soup and angry tuna rolls as an appetizer to share. Both came out fast and the soup was hot. The miso soup was FAB (they should sell that in a can....jokes)...they top it with truffle oil, which I really couldn't taste to do my sinus infection affecting my taste buds, but it was a different twist on miso that I really enjoyed. I ordered the scallops for my entree. Was wanting the scallops to have a little more heat to them (they were luke warm), but the dish, overall, was very tasty. Others are our table ordered calamari (which was also very tasty and tender..........not gummy that you can have at most places) as an appetizer. They also raved about the mango mojitos......must try that the next time I go. Overall, great atmosphere for a couple or a group. Parking, are in Chintatown/Gallery Place so we all know how parking is in that area. I would definitely go back.

Eh. No big misses but no big wins on their menu either. Their cocktail menu isn't particularly well rounded, even given the theme of the restaurant. Worth checking out once since it is so conveniently located, but save your money for a return visit and go anywhere in Penn Quarter.

The perfect place to visit with girlfriends for a boozy brunch (or non-alcohol which is $12 bucks less) and endless delicious Asian Mexican fusion tapas! I judge a restaurant based on their poached eggs, and unlike other overpriced brunches around DC, these were perfect, the yolks were still runny!!! Definitely made it onto my preferred brunch list.

The Bitches say: B+. Good food but not amazing quality to the blogger with discerning taste buds. Great booze. Good deal. That said, you will leave full, drunk and happy with money left in your wallet. Read the full review on our site!

You know the old saying of George Carlin "If you were selling sautéed raccoon’s assholes on a stick, Americans would buy them and eat them. Especially if you dipped them in butter and put a little salsa on ‘em." well this place is a case in point. Serving a quisine suffering from multiple personality disorder, the food in this 'fusion' joint has no character whatsoever. Lost between Chinese, Japanese, and French your palate will be overwhelmed and gasping for flavor. A variety of dumplings with a "skin" thicker than a shoe sole, overly spicy chicken breast and a suspicious looking vegetable fried rice. The decor was good, so they have that going on for them. So next time you visit take a bite out of the wall or try boiling one of the rocks hanging from the sealing. To add insult to injury, two drinks, an appetizer, rice plate and a chichen breast came up to $100 in this $$ rated place. Well!! try visiting Osteria Morini a $$$$ rated Italian/French place. Three drinks + fois gras + octopus + potatoes for an appetizer then duck breast and sea bass for main dishes all came up to $143. All served with a waterfront view on the river instead of the street fumes of China town.

One of my favorite brunch spots <3 It's a bit pricey, but it's endless super delicious small plates (Latin-Asian influence) and bottomless mimosas! SO MUCH YES. EDIT: corrected a spelling error in my review, and now the time stamp is off. Sorry. I think my original review was from 2013.

Food was amazing. Pork ramen seemed authentic, most everything else has some Latin influence to the spices used. Dim Sum special was good. Preferred less Latin influence, but there are places for that. This place has a good thing going. It has good atmosphere and music, food taste good, prices are fair, staff is courteous. Second floor was recommended and it seemed the best choice.

Zengo hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
