Here's my most recent article I wrote. A bit about my personal struggle...still a bit scared to wear my PTSD on my sleeve.
I'd like to take a different route with this article and delve more into my own personal aspects that I've been working on with my therapist.  Right now, we are working through a split mind in order to make it whole again.

A recently published PTSD study led by the University of Washington has found those who suffer from PTSD have a higher recovery rate from symptoms when they chose their own form of treatment.

The following is an article worthy of anyone's time to read (I actually read it twice).  It really hits on some very good points about how a society relates to its soldiers, their experiences and why they suffer from PTSD.

For those who may not know, service with the IDF (Israeli Defence Force) is mandatory, therefore almost all Israelis either have been or know soldiers.  Soldiers are  prevalent in their everyday lives.

I found a short article (which has some good links to resources) which covers some lesser known PTSD treatments.  A couple of them I've covered already on this site, but there are others that I really never even thought of, so I'll have to look into them in the future.

Because of my own struggles with PTSD and depression, I have not delved too much into C-PTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).  I feel that this is a disservice by not addressing it as well.  The reason being, though I may have experienced a relatively short duration series of events (6.5 months), others have gone through years of it.

What are PTSD Triggers?
PTSD triggers are a very personal and intrusive thing for each individual struggling with it. Identifying and finding strategies that work for YOU are key.

Being the big fan of TED Talks, I found this video which, for me, is an a really good broad brush explanation of some of the things we go through with PTSD.  It also gets into the basics of what can be done about it.  This is a solid video for anyone, but especially those who don't know too much about PTSD and its effects.

PTSD disrupts the lives of average individuals as well as combat veterans who have served their country.

Service Animals for the Win
Service animals are something we’re hearing a lot more of these days.  We are really just scratching the surface as to their benefits for those suffering with PTSD and traumas in general.  Let’s take some time to discuss some of the advantages of service animals.
