I am a first year MS student in San Francisco. I am curious about the role of technology in the field of I/O, specifically if more computer science training would be beneficial. If anyone has any articles or thoughts about the potential benefits of knowing how to program or use software such as R, please share.

I'm an I/O Ph.D student and I've found even my limited programming knowledge (Javascript, Python, and from front-end HTML/CSS) has helped me. While I'm not very familiar with R, my skills have helped me program tasks and stimuli for studies I've run. It's also helpful in cleaning and working with data, as Kyle said!

Filters would easily be a feature I'd pay for. I don't need to read 20 articles on WhatsApp or Sochi. If I could specify that any articles containing those be removed, it would be such an improved experience. Or even better, if a machine learning algo could just cut dupes out for me.
