Basic Information
Wife and I have tried several of the sushi restaurants in the area. We realized we hadn't tried this place and I have to admit, we were drawn to the name! First, let me say, the staff all had excellent costumes (it was a Halloween dinner for us)! I tried the sweet sake flight, having never tried a sweet sake before. I definitely recommend it (we went out to Total Wine and More for more sweet sake after dinner). We tried the fried scallops appetizer, which were excellent, though I was hoping for a bit larger on the portion. Tonight was a sushi night - the wife went with Salmon and Tuna nigiri as well as a Las Vegas roll. The sushi was tasty, though about on par with the sushi we get from Ninja sushi, so it was a bit of a disappointment. I, on the other hand, just HAD to try the cheetah roll, if only for the novelty. I have to say, its the most interesting sushi roll I've ever tried! I definitely recommend it - it was a fun roll, well executed! As other reviewers have mentioned, the service was a bit slower than I would have expected for so few patrons - drinks ran dry more than once. However, our server was quite pleasant (thank you Madison!). Had the prices been more on par with the standard sushi restaurant in the area, Otaku would easily be five stars. However, for the fine dining prices I expected a higher level of service and slightly better portions. Three stars as a sushi restaurant (I doubt we'll be going explicitly for sushi again) but 4 starts as a general Japanese restaurant. As a side note, they have Japanese noodles on the menu - we will definitely be going back to give those a shot!

Food was fantastic - had the BELT, never had better! Low review was for customer service - apparently, we came in close to closing time (3pm on a Sat). We got our food just fine, but one couple came in right at closing. Gentleman made a beeline for the restroom and the cashier behind the counter asked what they were eating. The SO didn't know... No biggie. Unfortunately, the cashier was unrelenting. Every 20 seconds was a "were CLOSING soon", followed by "are you SURE you don't now what he wants". It was the repetitions that earned the low stars. Our sandwich maker, Kate, was fantastic! Overall good food, but I just couldn't overlook the rude cashier.
