Take your life back from the Holiday Stress

Now that the holiday season is in full swing, we are faced with even more distractions, more obligations, and more calls to use our life energy than normal. The idea of quiet time is more important than ever, yet without careful planning, we find that there is little time for our thoughts, our needs, and ourselves. We are constantly bombarded by the buzz of life, so when we don’t consciously set aside quiet time, we become frazzled, over-exerted human doings. We keep up traditions that other people had and stop to realize we don’t have to keep doing things that no longer have meaning for us personally.

One of the things I do to stay sane during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is make time for myself a priority and I really make it a point to reserve and observe time off from the expectations of others. I personally think that being silent and peaceful is like having an invisible shield around you that negative energy cannot penetrate.

Don’t you think you deserve some sanity of stop traditions that are running your ragged? Make sure you go to your calendar and schedule some OFF time during this holiday season where you actually rest and do things that nurture you!

Maybe take an afternoon off and read a book you have wanted to read. Maybe book a spa treatment and get a good massage anything that is about self-care would be a great way to recoup from a long year of hustle.

I often wonder why most people seem to be afraid of quiet time; yet spiritual teachers tend to agree that we need to go into silence for wisdom. When you turn off the external noise to meditate and visit the silent spaces of your mind, you are most likely to discover new possibilities and opportunities, and new and different solutions to nagging problems.

Realize that your true power is internal and not external. Let go of old traditions and make new ones that fit with your personal desires and time. I urge you to demand more silence in your life during the overbooked Holiday Season. The holidays seem to dominate everything and the best holiday could be one where you decide to do more for your own inner health and happiness despite the distractions and endless family and social obligations. Take care of yourself.

If you don’t schedule some rest and enjoyment for yourself it is not just going to appear. Love yourself during this time of year and remove the stress, drama and unnecessary obligations! Time for you to regain your personal power to decide what traditions you want to keep and which ones to ditch.

Happy Holidays—You deserve a break!

Today we’re going to talk about Mindset Hacks for Summer Stress Relief and how to not let stress affect you so much. Here’s the truth – it’s summer, it’s hot and some people’s tempers flare at this time of year. There may even be some jealousy creeping in that others have time off and we don’t and it doesn’t seem fair. Life is moving along at a faster pace than it ever has before. THERE ARE REASONS WE HAVE STRESS! It’s how we COPE with the stress and defuse it that matters most.

https://youtu.be/TJkK9n8cLgI

Mind Hack #1: When you feel stress, start controlling your self-talk. Too much stress for too long leads to depression. When you find yourself saying, “I’m so stressed out”, “This is so tiring”, “This is so exhausting”, “I cannot do this all”, “This is not fair” you’re going to get even MORE stressed out!

It’s time to change your self-talk. You need to start to realize that you’re not a victim. You have volunteered for some of this stress, so UN-volunteer from some of it. Life doesn’t have to be perfect. It never has been and never will be.

Some Declarations that are helpful are:

I am now calm and cool under all circumstances.
I am in control of my life; I now can let go and relax; I am in control of all my thoughts and actions; I am very effective and efficient in stressful situations.
I love and honor myself; I have a positive attitude that I can handle myself in all situations.
Mind Hack #2: Remember that EXPECTATIONS ARE THE SOURCE OF ALL SUFFERING! If you’ve planned an event, launched a new product or service, hired new staff – then you already know things don’t happen exactly the way you want them or expect them to. That’s just part of life. The key is to prepare yourself and expect that there will be hiccups, problems, and challenges every day and then your stress goes down because you know those things are going to happen. That’s a REALISTIC point-of-view.

The key is to change your thinking to be solution-oriented when challenges arise. Say to yourself, “We will FIND the SOLUTION!”

Mind/Body Hack #3: Another way to gain control over stress is to simply breathe deeply several times. When your heart is beating too fast because of your anxious feelings, controlled breathing slows your heart and allows you to feel in control again. Breathing is also an effective form of muscle relaxation.

Yoga and Meditation are fabulous remedies for a lot of stress. They help you focus on your breathing. This is a great thing because remember, your mind cannot focus on more than one thing at a time. When you’re focused on your breath – you aren’t focusing on the chaos happening around you. This allows you to start to relax.

Mind Hack #4: It’s super-important to love yourself enough to learn the SKILL OF AWARENESS about what stresses you out and what you can do about it. One thing you can do is have self-imposed “pattern interrupts”. When you’re stressed out is not the time to make decisions. Take a few minutes to take a walk, listen to some relaxing music, play with your pet and kids for a few minutes. If you can’t do those then try to get to a place you can be alone. Imagine yourself in your favorite place or a quiet, peaceful location such as in a forest, on the top of a mountain or by the waterfront -- a mental Shangri-la. Not only is this an excellent Pattern interrupt but this type of imagery allows you to focus on something beautiful and emotionally rewarding. The University of Delaware has done studies proving that imagining a quiet natural scene in your mind will significantly reduce your stress.

Mind Hack #5: To help you with becoming aware of what stresses you out try asking yourself these questions:

What can I do today to get away from the world and just take care of myself?

What can I do to have a good day today in spite of reality?

What resources can I use today to get back to my normal positive thinking self?

What friends can I share my problems with that will be a support system?

What self-talk can I start to use now to change my state of mind?

What areas of my life have I allowed myself to be a victim? What do I want to do differently in the future?

In what areas of my life do I demand that I be perfect?

In what areas of my life am I out of balance?

What activities am I trying to be all things to all people?

What parts of my life am I stuffing my feelings and not venting frustrations?

How can I not take myself so seriously?

One year from today, what will be funny about this situation or my behavior?

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO TO SUPPORT MYSELF?

Mind Hack #5: Give yourself permission to have some positive personal rewards, to appreciate yourself such as: a massage; pampering yourself with a good meal (with dessert); a night out on the town; a hot bubble bath and a glass of champagne; playing Golf or tennis; phoning someone you love to give you a lift; a cleaning service to clean your home. Anything that empowers you to feel like you are special! Always keep in mind that bad days don't last. This too shall pass. Empower yourself not to let your state of mind control you -- you always control your emotions with your thoughts.

Love yourself A LOT more folks! Don’t take life so seriously, no one here gets out of here alive and most things aren't worth stressing over! Remember to PACE yourself and also remember there’s always a solution to every challenge or problem you face.

The Present is Your Point of Power
By: Lee Milteer

I am sure you can relate to having a challenging time sleeping from time to time. Because your brain is going a mile a minute thinking of the dozens of things you need to do, want to do, have to do, or that are now past due. Too much thinking causes everyone stress since no matter how efficient you are it’s impossible to get everything you want done when you want it done. (Sound familiar?)

I love to create and as an entrepreneur I always have to be creating. But I can also drive myself crazy if I don’t control my mind and stay in the present, because like you, that is where all my power lies. You have to get a grip --- the only power you have is right now. So ask yourself “What can I do right now?” If you take care of now the future will take care of itself. We can plan and do proactive things for the future but we will never be able to know exactly what is going to happen. We often totally stress ourselves out with trying to do everything. We only have 1,440 minutes per day. Please start to have the skill of awareness that your brain has to be in the present time to be really effective.

It’s not that we don't have great ideas, projects we want to get done, people we want to help, and more time with loved ones. The problem is that we have no energy to do the extra things in life that we would like to do. We only have so much life energy we can use in any given day. We often burn ourselves out giving too much of ourselves to others and dealing with stress. Our lives are changing at a rapid pace and it feels as if we have too many people, responsibilities and necessities pulling us in a thousand different directions every waking hour. It’s no surprise that we feel stressed out and fatigued. Being self-employed often has more stress and insecurity to it than working for someone else. You are the boss and all the responsibly lies on your shoulders. It often feels like no days off from thinking about the business!

The problem isn't just our business or lifestyle; it’s also how we use our existing life energy. We all have self-defeating behaviors that drain our energy by creating anxiety and stress. I call these energy leaks because they drain us of our vitality for life. Energy leaks occur when we use our mental or emotional energy on our thoughts, worries, doubts, fears, and grudges.

Food for thought for those who have a sense of humor: I want you to take the attitude that you are too lazy to hold a grudge. You must see the humor of this attitude. Since the only person you really hurt when you hold a grudge is yourself. When you find yourself worrying about a problem, remind yourself that worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but gets you nowhere. Worries, doubts, fears, and grudges are simply bad habits that keep you from enjoying life and making profitable decisions.

When we cannot maintain our high energy level, we cannot learn new skills, adapt to new procedures, and assimilate changing directions. We must become aware of the unconscious energy leaks that can influence the overall quality of our lives as well as strategies to use our life energy more effectively. It’s important to know what is draining you to control your stress in life. If you don’t become conscious then you will always use your life energy reacting to life and stress.

A very unresourceful habit that many people have is wasting time and their life by trying to live in the past or the future. When we daydream of the past or spend a lot of time comparing how the past was better, we are actually stealing from our current life energy to be in the present. Have you ever caught yourself thinking: Things used to be so much better when--? The problem in doing this is that you're stealing from the one true resource that can't be replaced--NOW. All you have is this moment in time. Our present time is so precious, yet we act as if it were okay to waste the only thing you really own in life: the present. Please start to be aware of being here and now.

You can prevent this energy leak by taking a different perspective for looking at time. Our past is the present memory of activities, events, people, places, and things. It is also our perceptions and interpretations, combined with our physical and emotional reactions to these things. All of our memories occur in the present time -- all you have in life is the present. The past is a locked door; we can’t go back and change anything. We cannot undo what has been done. What we can do is learn from the past and make sure that knowledge assists us in all our future decisions and choices when decisions are made in front of us.

When you describe the future, you will most likely talk about events that may happen. What we like to call the future is really the use of our imagination. We base our future on the memories of the past, just rearranged to meet our expectations of what we think the future will be like.

When we spend our time regretting or longing for the past, or worrying about or longing for something in the future, we find we have created problems that have no solutions, because they are based on remembered or imagined situations. We have no way of doing anything about them. This behavior causes great frustration within you.

In regard to future concerns, if I realize that the process of worrying about not being able to pay my bills next month or losing my relationship or not getting something I regard as important (those things haven't happened yet) is basically a waste of energy, then I am freed up to enjoy, do, and be whatever is here and necessary right now. I find I can actually live my life rather than just thinking or worrying about it. As I have said before (and it is important for you to get this) you only have 1,440 minutes a day! You want to use that time being as effective as possible with your talents and skills to become wealthy, healthy, and happy.

Your time and energy should be at the top of your list of most precious resources. It's the steps you take in the present which will allow you to manifest whatever it is that you want in your future. Again, the bottom line is your point of power is always in the present. Train yourself to stay in the present as much as possible. Don’t try to figure out the solutions to everything. Have some faith in yourself and your abilities to deal with whatever cards you are dealt! The truth is you have always landed on your feet and you always will. Stop allowing stressful self-induced thoughts to zap your creativity and energy.

Be present, stop wishing away time, and stop wishing for things to be different. Do you really want to waste your life wishing? As an entrepreneur you must realize that your time is one of your most important resources. Don’t waste it feeling sorry for yourself or wishing things were different. Deal with reality.

Every day we are in situations that are stressful and beyond our control. Don’t let your creativity, positive attitude, and good common sense slip away during these stressful times. The only thing you have true power over is your response to all situations. Be an actor to life instead of a reactor. Try this for a short time and see how your life becomes more fun, productive, profitable, and less stressful. You will also find that the people around you will appreciate your new attitude! Life is short--ENJOY IT. Remember, it’s not the destination that counts but the journey. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK!!!

Easy De-Cluttering Strategies – To Feel In Control Again

We all need more simplicity in our lives to have less stress and actually enjoy our lives. De-cluttering releases the blocks that have been holding you back. It ignites the fires of energy within you - energy you didn't even know you had! The stress in your face and body will ease and your confidence will return when you feel more in control. Things start to fall into place in every area of your life when you de-clutter your surroundings.

One of the most nagging challenges we all have is dealing with too much stuff in our lives. Our goal is to play the unmanifesting game. This really means that we are releasing things that no longer have value or importance to us. This is critical because these material items are draining us of time, money, and life energy. To motivate you, consider thinking of these strategies as a way to help charity and yourself.

Think of your time and efforts to clear out your spaces as actually doing something that could benefit others because of what you donate into the world. Many people who spend time working at charity functions feel a significant difference in their lives because of it. Clothing banks focus on giving clothes to foster children, children in orphanages, as well as children of low-income families. Many children and parents rely on these clothing banks to provide school and winter clothing, as well as blankets, school supplies, and shoes. Some of these groups do more than just clothing, and also offer basic furniture like beds and recycled refrigerators to families in need. When we give back to society by donating things, money, and time, we improve the lives of those less fortunate which, in turn, improves our own lives.

De-cluttering a whole house can seem overwhelming. BUT if it's broken down into bite size chunks, it can be handled with ease.

1. Start by de-cluttering for 10 to 15 minutes a day. It's enough time to achieve something. It's short enough that we can all fit it into our busy schedules. If you do this one thing, it becomes a good habit. It will also ensure you keep your home or office clutter free in the future.

2. De-clutter storage space first. Once you get control of drawers, cabinets and closets it will be so much easier to find a home for everything.

3. Pick one room for your 15-minute daily sessions and stick to it until everything is decluttered. It doesn't really matter which room you start with.

4. Be ruthless in deciding what to keep and what to let go. You can't succeed at de-cluttering and simplifying your life or office unless you are willing to let stuff go. To make it easy, take the attitude that you are prosperous enough that if you happen to get rid of something you need in the future, you will simply give yourself permission to buy a new one, rent it, or even buy one from a secondhand store at a bargain.

The bottom line is to go into this STUFF DIET with the mindset that most stuff can be replaced!! (Because it CAN!)

5. Deal with paper. Little and often works best. Paper causes a lot of clutter. Bills, invoices, and receipts without a system get out of control fast. For example, you can stop paper clutter by creating a simple system for incoming mail. You'll need a bin and a 2-tier tray. Designate one tray for items that require action, and the other for documents that need to be filed. Set up a filing system that suits your own personality and needs. Create reminders for scheduling actions like paying bills, appointments, and events. Outlook on your computer is a good system.

6. As soon as you bring something new into the house or office, set aside storage space for it. Always keep it in its place when not in use.

There is nothing in this world that feels quite the same as looking around your home or office and seeing it in order. And there's nothing more energy-draining than living with clutter, but it goes far beyond your own environment. De-cluttering will open new opportunities for you in your personal and career life because it frees up your life energy for new things.

It takes MUCH less time to de-clutter than it does to look at piles of clutter and feel bad day after day. The time we spend fretting about our clutter and berating ourselves is time we could be enjoying our surroundings and feeling like a winner.

Your new motto:
If it doesn’t serve a purpose, have meaning or monetary value—out it must go!
