I think this list helps me understand why I often disagree with people about how I tend to rank Marvel movies (and superhero movies generally). While there are specific rankings I agree with, more often than not, this list left me scratching my head: "Really? You think that's a good one?" I think what I'm looking for in my superhero fare is just different from most people. But it's a cool list as a way to calibrate your own tastes.

More like this, pretty please.

“I’m the best one.”

Wow, I spent a lot of time diving into the 1981 version of Traveller these past few days. Some crap, but also some interesting things. Maybe more to say later.

Classic, indeed.

Ah, man. Roger Moore died. The first Bond movie I ever remember watching was Live and Let Die. Not the most culturally sensitive piece of filmic history, but it has some cool stunts and, as a young boy, I immediately wanted to see the rest of the series. Bonus: Moore has a pretty damn good Dry Martini recipe (with Gin!): https://daringfireball.net/linked/2017/05/23/moore-perfect

Go now! Take a look!

If you haven't had a chance to check this game out, please do so. There is some very cool, innovative stuff being done with narration and story structure. The theme is unique and slightly gonzo. The main character is fun. On top of that, the art and graphic design looks top-notch. I can't believe this hasn't funded yet, and I'd love to see it get there real soon.
Trouble For Hire has a week left, and:

- We're over 80% of the way to funding!
- +Kevin Allen Jr. made a rad Spotify playlist to inspire your games: https://open.spotify.com/user/kevinallenjr/playlist/1nkOViIyQZYHmt5aGOMEwQ
- We have the shirt design!

We all need some action smells for our hi-octane road adventures, right?

If you haven't had a chance yet, check out the campaign for all the details on this easy-to-learn road movie adventure game where you all play GMs focused on the central (anti-)hero Ruben Carlos Ruiz as he burns rubber through a world gone mad with modernity. Only $10 to get in at the PDF level and help us pay great artists to bring Ruben's world to full-color life!

Thanks!

More revisions and record sheets! I sometimes do my best game design work while visualizing how all the bits of information in a game would best be represented on a sheet for the players. It's just as much about user interface as it is about making sure the system support quality storytelling.

Revisions on my new game continue. This time it's the structuring of flashbacks to ensure a consistent story that builds on itself despite being told in a series of disparate and sometimes confusing scenes.

Running another playtest on Saturday!

Just read this in George Saunders' short story," Pastoralia," from 2000. Sound familiar?

"Because what is truth? Truth is that thing which makes what we want to happen happen. Truth is that thing which, when told, makes those on our team look good, and inspires them to greater efforts, and causes people not on our team to see things our way and feel sort of jealous. Truth is that thing which empowers us to do even better than we are already doing, which by the way is fine, we are doing fine, truth is the wind in our sails that blows only for us. So when a rumor makes you doubt us, us up here, it is therefore not true, since we have already defined truth as that thing which helps us win. Therefore, if you want to know what is true, simply ask what is best. Best for us, all of us. Do you get our drift?"
