Menu is really interesting and creative, I liked the beet and horseradish cured salmon with picked mustard seeds that was crazy good. So are the martinis. Mi novio le gustan la carne.

This is a letter that I wrote to cafe Noir after our dinner. They never responded. I first came to Cafe Noir about 6 month ago and have been returning a couple times a month. My wife and I have always been very happy with the service, food, and atmosphere. We have been singing your praises to our friends and family for a long time. My parents came into town this weekend and demanded that we attend this great place that they have heard so much about. We made reservations and were sat promptly and greeted by our server. He told us that "he was ready to take our order." We had not been sitting for more than 2 minutes at this point. My father said that he would like a minute to have a cocktail order some appetizers and then take his time ordering dinner. Our server promptly told us “it was a water fire night and that it was not an option for us to take our time”. I understand that these are prime nights for you and your staff, but this was very rude to us. If it were not for the fact that I was with my parents I would have said thank you for your time and left right away. I am a server in Wayland Square and I understand the importance of turning tables over in a prompt fashion during the dinner rush. I would have no problem with our server speeding things along in order to turn over the table, but to announce this to our table seems like poor judgment. I would think that a server should have the mentality that the customer is not always right, but happy. My father took offence to this and tried to ease the situation by ordering two appetizers and a bottle of wine, before we ordered our dinner. We were brought three appetizers, but since things were already tense we said nothing. The server continued to playfully poke and prod at my father when it seemed obvious that he was not amused. At the end of the night we spent close to $300, and my fathers food was served cold (we would hate to think it was done on purpose) and we were continuously being made aware of the time we were spending at the table. In comparison, there was a party of 6 that had been seated before we arrived that was not even close to being done when were leaving. I would hope that you and your staff would want people to enjoy their food and not feel rushed when spending so much money. You have a very nice place and we have always enjoyed it however last night was very disappointing. I was embarrassed that I had brought my parents to your restaurant. Thank you
