So, I made a homemade clineometer using a protractor, straw, string, and a weight (in my case I used a nut that had no threads). Using this device I measured the height of a door, and the height of my rain gutters using some basic trigonometry. All you need is this device and a way to measure how far away from the object you are standing.
This is my first math video, and I hope to do more in the near future. I figured a video like this may come in handy for others. I may take this device and use it to measure a few more objects, and maybe even the height and width of a tree. If anyone has any suggestions of math videos I'd also appreciate the ideas. Thanks for watching.

My focus on these images were Tycho Crater, and Mare Humorum. Both taken on the night of October 1, 2017. More information on how I took the images, and the objects in the image can be found here: http://adirondackastro.com/2017/10/october-1st-86-waxing-gibbous-moon/

For those procrastinators out there that didn't get solar eclipse glasses and can't find them now. Don't worry, you can make a solar projector out of a box (preferably a rectangular box such as a shoebox) to view the eclipse. You just need your box, aluminum foil, a pin, a blank white piece of paper, and some tape. http://adirondackastro.com/2017/08/last-minute-eclipse-prep/

Got out yesterday and did some daytime moon observations and snapped a couple pictures with my cellphone through the eyepiece. Then did some visual of Saturn and was able to see the Cassini Division for the first time. The skies were very stable last night. Then once it got dark enough to image I imaged M27, the Dumbbell Nebula, and M76, the little dumbbell nebula. Those images will be coming at a later date.

Two of the pet mantises snatching up fruit flies to eat. You can watch one as it does its little butt wiggle to simulate a breeze blowing a leaf or twig. Their speed when catching prey is extremely fast. Maybe next time I'll try for some slow motion video.
One mantis was born on June 1, 2017 and has molted twice, we named it Matt the Mantis.
The other on was born on June 7, 2017 and has molted only once so far, we named it Tickles the Mantis.

One of our two praying mantis egg cases (ootheca) hatched. We released all but one to the wild. We purchased a 3 gallon "bugarium" from Petsmart and some live flightless fruit flies to feed him/her. These images are of the hatchling, and of the mantis I kept. You can see a couple images of it eating a fruit fly! Now just waiting for the next egg case to hatch. I will probably only keep the one mantis and release the rest.

I won't be purchasing any more egg cases until early spring next year to allow for a longer summer for them to mature, mate, and hopefully produce many more mantises in and around my yard and garden.

This is a very interesting pet and I look forward to watching it grow over the next couple months.

I wrote up a review for the Telegizmo 365 cover. I couldn't find a lot of reviews online before purchasing mine, so I thought I would add a review to the small list of reviews out there.
