FERAL KITTENS IN LANZAROTE
Following on from yesterday's Grumpy Cat post, these delightful kittens live amongst the rocks in a small cave in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. They are wild, though caring people have placed some straw in the small cave. There is also a white kitten, but he was a bit shy. They looked healthy and It was nice that passers were seen feeding them ... but who could resist ...

GRUMPY CAT
But I guess he has a right to be grumpy living as a street cat. I saw quite a few such feral cats while in Lanzarote. There were even some beautiful kittens living amongst the rocks in small caves by a harbour. It's interesting how people, often English, feed them with tinned cat food and the like. They seem to survive. There are also charities on the island that have spay/neuter programmes to try and control the number of kittens born.

BEAUTY IS SUBJECTIVE
Today's theme, set by +Johnny Wills for #joinindaily is 'Beautiful Reds (Not Flowers) ... but beauty is subjective. As Benjamin Franklin wrote:

Beauty, like supreme dominion
Is but supported by opinion

The red in my photo may not be everybody's idea of beauty but ... if you were in danger of drowning in the sea, this red Rescue Torpedo Buoy would indeed be a thing of beauty.

That'll do, I have waffled enough - the beach is in Padstow, Cornwall.

THE BELL OF CASTILLO DE SAN GABRIEL
For #rustysunday: the bell mountings at the Castillo de San Gabriel in Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The castle itself was once a wooden structure but, after being burnt down by Berber pirates, was rebuilt out of stone in the 16th century.

A HAZY, LAZY DAY
Wandering along the cliffs from Padstow on a hazy, lazy day - beautiful sand revealed by the sea as the tide rolls out. This is the entrance to the River Camel.

NO MAN IS AN ISLAND ...
... but if I owned this one I might well declare independence.

I have posted a photo of the island previously but this one is from a different angle - showing the bridge that unites it with the mainland. As the tide comes in the island is surrounded by water. The only access is by the footbridge.

The island is on Towan Beach, Newquay, Cornwall.
