“I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty; it ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”
~John Adams, July,1776
Celebrate today in honor of our forefathers, our freedom and our heroes.
Happy Independence Day

There is an increase of construction site thefts. This week, there has been three reported cases of construction site theft (2 in Rotonda Lakes and 1 in Punta Gorda) in addition to the Murdock area. The criminals broke into locked trailers left at job sites and stole tools. Businesses are also being targeted.
The official press release is below.
Our Sheriff’s Office is doing what it can to protect you, and asks for your help.
When possible, keep your trailers in a lighted area, or take the trailer off the job site.
Make sure you have the construction site theft signs posted so that when the criminals are caught, can be charged with a felony. The signs can also help deter theft on sites with signs posted.
If you need more signs, please stop by the CDBIA office.

Subject: Construction Burglaries
Over the past few weeks, beginning approximately the first week of June, 2017, there have been a series of burglaries reported to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. These burglaries have been occurring largely in the Murdock area, more specifically in and around the Paulson Dr., James St. and Janice Ave. areas.
The suspects are targeting business structures, such as storage sheds and company vehicles, to include enclosed trailers. The crimes have been occurring during the overnight hours on no particular night. The suspect(s) are cutting locks on sheds or prying open locked doors to vehicles. Thieves are taking construction type power tools, generators and any other items of value.
A possible suspect vehicle has been identified and is described as being a single cab pickup truck, unknown make that is dark in color. We ask that all industrial/construction type businesses take precautions and secure all areas. It is suggested that you park all vehicles and conveyances in a well-lit area during overnight hours. Please report any and all suspicious vehicles and people to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, if you have a surveillance system, please review footage of overnight hour video for the presence of suspicious people and vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office has implemented an initiative to end this identified burglary pattern. Deputies are aware of this trend and prevention and detection measures are in place. If you have any knowledge of additional information that could assist the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, please call 941-639-2101 or if it is an emergency, dial 911. Remember, together we can make a difference.

Cheers to all the moms who told her children "You break it- you fix it".
To the moms who felt the pain of stepping on legos as your child left them out from making a masterpiece, who rolled her ankle from slipping on a Lincoln Log, for putting up with hours and hours of "Bob the Builder" and "Handy Manny", we salute you.
For leaving on Bob Vila and "This Old House" after Sesame Street ended and who gave a mini tool sets, fisher price wood shops or a DeWalt drills as a gift for their birthday and for having Time Life Home Repairs books readily available on the coffee table, we praise you
Thank you moms for building our builders.
Happy Mothers' Day.
