“I looked up at the shower head, and it was as if the water droplets had stopped in mid-air”, he says. “They came into hard focus rapidly, over the course of a few seconds”.
One day, a man saw time itself stop, and as David Robson discovers, unpicking what happened is revealing that we can all experience temporal trickery too

+Robert Steiner Uh yeah, your higher self is probably doing this. Wants to bring things up to the surface of your conscious. I'm not a religious meditator lol, I wish I was, I know how much calmer and focused I'd be. But I've had such calling to start meditating, I can feel that I need that focus. My life is very hectic, I'm all over the place with my business that I'm STILL trying to set up properly, then personal life, relationships,...it's all undergoing a major shift and restructuring, but this time I'm not unsure or afraid, I'm gonna welcome it all. Just very recently I'm finally able to be more in the Now than ever before, as past is dissolving and has very little grip on my emotional and energetic states. I can really go and say Hallelujah! I'm super eager to get to the next level of things now that I'm almost free of my past, or I should say content with it. I can see meditation naturally becoming a bigger part of my life. Right this moment I feel I should meditate on my efforts with Adobe Illustrator and the indecisiveness about colors, logo and other graphics for my biz, its driving me NUTS!!! Keep changing things drastically and too fast, I feel you only get one chance to go public, and get that first impression right. It's still easier to try hard and do a great job at start than try and correct things afterwards. Gotta end this reply, or it will become an extended essay lol! Cheers! Always a pleasure exchanging ideas with you!

Most Eurozone members have broken their promises at one point or another, including both Germany and France. The Euro was a unification project, and erred (not unreasonably, I think) on the side of building a big tent.
Greece is a remarkable country full of wonderful people, but along dimensions of development and governance, the place is plainly pretty fucked up. It has been fucked up that way for a long time, for decades at least. This has never been secret. Anyone who has visited Athens knows it has far ...

It's all fun and games... 'til someone dies of pollution. 😱
“Made in the U.S.A” is becoming more affordable. The reason? Fracking.

My supervisor told me I would be “happy to hear” there was another female PhD coming soon. I did not get it. Why was he telling me this, and why would I be happy about this. I did not care.
I love programming and problem solving and nerd culture and growing up I never felt that computer science was not the place for me. I understand now how incredibly lucky I was, but that is for another blog post. When I grew older, my gender grew into a topic. I remember that when I started grad ...

I sit and wonder if other people you were connected to have deleted your profile. And I stare out the window wondering if I should try to call you again.

I recently came across the following question posted by Paul Buchheit (the founder of Gmail): Assume that I'm going to get rid of $20,000 and my only concern is the "common good". Which of these is the best use of the money: give it to the Gates foundation, buy a hybrid car, invest it in a promising startup, invest it in the S&P500, give it to the US government, give it to a school, other? Many of our users donate money as way to do good with ...
