As a follow up to last week's chess piece post we constructed an equally unique chess board from Tanzanian wenge and Canadian birdseye. Because we wanted a board bigger than the 12inx12in bed of the microfactory we built the base in 4 separate permanently interlocking pieces. In this week's post we'll walk you through the entire process with pictures, video and explanations.

This week we used the microfactory to cast an aluminum chess set. We created our own unique design for modern, minimalist pieces, and then used the microfactory to mill the master parts in microcrystalline wax which were then sandcast. We will walk you through the entire process in the post with pictures, descriptions and some pretty cool videos of liquid metal!

For this week's installment we want to explore the world of printing and milling on the same part with a microfactory! The combination of these capabilities offers exciting benefits for higher precision and resolution parts. Our post will walk you through this first hybrid project - a plastic bracket - with videos, pictures and descriptions.

We made a beating robot heart!!! Well... not exactly but we did do something we have been eyeing for months - make a custom shaped circuit-board and matching project enclosure. Our "heart" flashes @ 72 beats per minute and is sure to make your science minded significant other swoon! Check it out in our weekly project along with videos, pictures and descriptions of how we did it.

Hey fans,
this week we wanted to have fun making our own Che inspired custom stickers with the microfactory. In the post we'll walk you through how we used photoshop to convert a picture into a vector image and then how we turned it into a finished vinyl sticker.
