Can any chemists out there help?   #openscience   #drugdiscovery   #medchem   #chemistry   #osm   #malaria   #malariadrugs

I am proposing introducing a fluoroalkene functional group into the series 4 compounds in place of the amides as a new direction to take for my honours project. I believe they would also be interesting to explore from a potency/metabolism point of view as well. If anyone could give me some feedback on my proposed synthetic route that would be much appreciated.

Post about an interesting meeting I'm involved with that's taking place this July looking at how it might be possible to combine open source research with large prizes to stimulate new efforts in drug discovery. Open for comment. Agenda, proceedings and outcomes will be all shared. Some big, fascinating questions being asked, many with no clear answers. +John Wilbanks

Remember the feather vs bowling ball in order to explain #gravity? Well, it is demonstrated at NASA's Space Power Facility in Ohio, by creating an enormous vacuum chamber. It's quite impressive to watch it despite it's a known fact.

Are there any open source heros out there that can run a hERG assay on 50-100 compounds? #openscience   #malaria   #drugdiscovery   #medchem   #hERG   #biology   #assay

+Open Source Malaria needs a lab able to run a high throughput hERG assay on future analogs in Series 4. Any suggestions or offers can be left below or on the relevant To Do item on Gihub

Also enjoy trying to take pictures but I don't know what I'm doing most of the time.  This account will be mainly used for posting #OpenScience stuff with the random picture put in for good measure.
