When I did my EDTech Masters, the class fell into two groups, one experienced teachers with very little computer knowledge and the second inexperienced newbie teachers with strong computer backgrounds. Out of a desperate need to survive in a very technical hypermedia course, the older teachers formed a study group and helped each other get past the programming language to the teaching. We remained a group long after we graduated and continue to share resources ten years later. So a common need brought us together, and shared experiences kept us communicating even though we rarely connect f2f.
