For the 12th year in a row, Citizens Connected, sponsored two area juniors to attend the Foundation for Rural Services (FRS) Youth Tour to Washington DC. This year Alexis Potvin, daughter of Michele and Brian Potvin of Cameron, and Christina Gordon, daughter of James and Janice Gordon of New Auburn, were chosen to represent Citizens at the Annual Youth Tour. Alexis and Christina were among 110 high school students throughout the United States to attend the tour held June 3–7, 2017.

The tour focused on the role of telecommunications in rural American communities. Alexis and Christina attended educational sessions where they received a first-hand glimpse at how the legislative and regulatory decisions made affect their hometown service providers operations (Internet, TV and phone).

In addition to the educational sessions on Capitol Hill and at the FCC, they also visited the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, Home of George Washington, Mount Vernon, Smithsonian Museums and Newseum. They toured the Memorials of WWII, Vietnam & Korean War, Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., Lincoln and Iwo Jima.

To be eligible for this all-expense paid tour, the applicant’s parents, guardians, or foster parents only need one of Citizens Connected’s main services (Telephone, Fiber-Fast Internet and/or Fiber-TV) at their primary residence. Application information is released to Citizens Connected members and schools early in the year. To find out more information visit their website at http://www.citizens-tel.net/ or call their office at (715) 237-2605.

With Citizens Connected's eBill, you can: have your statements sent electronically; view past statements; and pay your bill online with a major credit card, debit card, checking account or savings account.
