Worst place ever. I was displaced from a fire/flood and it took them over a month to get it taken care of. I wanted to break my lease once that happened and they charge over 2k to break, plus 2 months worth of rent. I was only there for 2 1/2 weeks. Only good thing about the place are the ladies that work there. Incredibly nice, caring, and thoughtful.

I have been here for 2 years and love it. Its in a great location, close to highways and simple needs like grocery store, movie store, deli, bank and gas station... But far enough from the city where it is home. The units are beautiful, the amenities are great! Washer and Dryer included! The only complaint.. and there will always be one.. is the neighbor... you will always have one in an apartment living.. but there are issues with respect (not the leasing offices fault).

This is one of the only nice places I could find that allows dogs (some renters have two dogs). Likes: Modern furnishings Air Conditioning & Heating rocks! Beautiful grounds Leasing office accepts package deliveries Literally across the street from US Post Office, Library, and Deli! Big windows High ceilings Close to Rt 146 (Prov - Worcester Hwy) Clothes washer/dryer inside apartment Dislikes: Floors are not 100% level (ok, it *was* built in 1826) Thin walls/floors - you will hear loud neighbors Parking - you might have to park far from a building entrance Weird ventilation fan in bathrooms that cannot be shut off Far from MBTA

Aesthetically the apartment is great and really cool but within the first two months of living here my roommate and I have found many pitfalls. When we first moved in there weren't many people living here yet so we didn't realize how thin the walls are. Once our neighbor moved in we realized that we can hear everything through the walls including what they are watching on tv and their conversations. BTW- they love American Idol and Oprah. They wake up every day at 5:30 and each morning after their shower they use the microwave. Does this paint a good picture? The management will tell you that heat water is included, but they fail to mention that it's only a few gallons of hot water. You absolutely CAN NOT take 2 showers within an hour of each other or the second shower isn't hot (obviously hard to do when we get ready for work in the mornings). It will start off as luke warm then quickly go cold. They will also tell you that heat is included. That may be true but the heat won't physically get into the apartment without the electricity (of course you pay for) powering the blowers. I wouldn't recommend this apartment to anyone.

My boyfriend and I moved into a 2 bedroom, 2 bath loft apartment here in March of this year. We loved the historic look of the building and the people were very friendly. The heat/AC isnt too expensive, especially for a loft. I think the most we have paid is about $120/month. They have a trash service that comes and picks up your trash from right outside your door- it's great! I do have a couple complaints however- the walls are VERY thin, so much that I can hear our neighbor's dog bark incessantly and his alarm. Another complaint is sometimes the water in the downstairs bathroom smells funny, but it's easy to fix. The last issue is that there are always young kids in the common lounge area hanging out. Overall though, the good outweigs the bad- I would definitely recommend this place. It has a very large mix of residents- young adults, famililies, retirees, etc. I can't wait for the pool to open! PS- In regards to the other complaints about the dog poop- I think it would be very hard to "catch" anyone not cleaning up their pets' mess!!

I looked long and hard all over Central MA. I found The Halstead and moved in NOV 2010 - Couldn't be happier! Amenities are top-notch, great apartments, beautiful grounds - prices are a steal!
