At the height of the Great Depression, entrepreneur O.D. McKee began selling 5 cent snack cakes out of the back of his car. The business grew steadily, and in 1960, Mr. McKee created an American icon by naming his family's new snack cakes after his granddaughter, Debbie.
Today, Little Debbie is America's No. 1 brand of snack cakes, creating family favorites like the Oatmeal Creme Pie, Swiss Cake Roll, Nutty Bar, the new Chocolate Cupcake and many more.
Best of all, Little Debbie remains a family-run bakery, with several of O.D. McKee's children and grandchildren — including the namesake Debbie McKee-Fowler — in leadership positions at parent company McKee Foods.
